1-1! The Redskins played from behind most of Sunday’s game against the Saints, but came up big in the fourth quarter. A 67-yard TD to Santana Moss, despite a major defensive lapse, provided the winning score for the Skins. Jason Campbell finally looked like the prospect we’ve been told he is, with 321 yards and that perfect TD to Santana Moss.

The Nationals: Oy. 3-7 in the last ten, and lost five straight. I wish there was something good to say about these guys. I do. Just 13 games left in the season for the hapless Nats, and we’re in a race with the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres for the bottom of the Major Leagues.

Fortunately, Nationals Park doubles as an incredible Opera Venue, judging by the weekend’s simulcast debut of La Traviata. The Stadium was open to opera-lovers who felt that the Kennedy Center was too enclosed a space for the beautiful production.

DC United: Well, it could be worse. United battled out a 2-2 tie against the inferior Dallas FC on Saturday, despite their best efforts. Steven Goff of the Post phrases United’s situation eerily well: “[United] must play 12 games over 44 days (6 MLS, 6 Champions League), beginning with Tuesday’s CL opener against Saprissa at RFK, and will have to travel to three foreign countries, make a trip to the West Coast and pay two visits to Texas.”

Yikes. Here’s hoping they can keep it up and take that eighth slot in the East for the playoffs.
