We Love Resolutions

Happy 2009, everyone! While I usually don’t get down with the Resolutions for every new year, 2008 was such a spectacular disaster in many ways, I’m glad to try to right the boat from the very beginning. Resolutions work best if you have people to help keep you honest, so we decided as a group to post some of ours here, below the cut. Got a good resolution? Post it in the comments!

Tom

  • 25 DC-focused photowalks in 2009
  • Get to a Caps or Wizards Game
  • Dinner at Marvin
  • Finally get the “Snowy Iwo Jima” photo I’ve coveted since 2003.

Tiffany

  • Learn to use my SLR in this photogenic city
  • Watch more local comedy
  • Get more of my food grown locally

Ben Rome

  • Attend at least one restaurant participating in Restaurant Week.
  • Visit the Capitol Visitor’s Center.
  • Grudgingly give the Capitals the credit they deserve (but only if they make it to Round 2 of the playoffs).
  • Attend a DC photowalk and an actual DC Blogs meeting.
  • Continue my childlike ignorance of baseball.
  • Repress the urge to shove people into the proper ‘lane’ when using Metro escalators.
  • Blog more about hockey in general on my website.
  • Not become the stereotypical 8 a.m. lawn-mowing neighbor on Saturday mornings.
  • Make it to at least one Shakespeare play and one Kennedy Center event before this time next year.
  • Not blast the Capitals’ sales guys again (sorry Jim!) for making it utterly impossible to buy single-game tickets to both Pens-Caps games at Verizon this year.
  • Cheer for the Pens one final time at the Igloo before it gets torn down.
  • Not be jealous of Tom and his iPhone obsession.
  • Take more photos of architecture and monuments in and around DC.

Rebecca Johnson

  • My DC resolution is to not stay in my Glover Park neighborhood as much for going out, dining, events, etc. I’d love to spend more time on Capitol Hill, Adams Morgan and other neighborhoods.

Katie

  • Visit the Postal Museum, Air and Space and the Hirshorn (I know, I know, I haven’t been yet, don’t chastise me.)
  • Attend a Fotoweek show
  • Sip drinks on the rooftop of the Beacon Hotel
  • Attend a free show on the Millennium Stage
  • Pony up to dine at Citronelle or City Zen
  • Bust out of the Virginia/DC bubble and visit Bethesda, Takoma or Silver Spring for the afternoon/evening
  • Make it back out 66 for more winery visits

Jasmine

  • Go see a Go-Go show
  • Visit the Corcoran and the National Museum of Women in the Arts
  • Overcome my annoyance at pushy kids at concerts, since I was once one
  • Go to at least one play, preferably at the Harman Center
  • Make friends with a local band
  • Avoid large outdoor music festivals, no matter how much of a good idea they sound like at the time
  • Finally get over to the Shenandoah

I live and work in the District of Columbia. I write at We Love DC, a blog I helped start, I work at Technolutionary, a company I helped start, and I’m happy doing both. I enjoy watching baseball, cooking, and gardening. I grow a mean pepper, keep a clean scorebook, and wash the dishes when I’m done. Read Why I Love DC.
