George Mason University gets smart

You’re like school on a Saturday Inauguration Day: No Class!

George Mason University was a little slow to the party, but presumably enough people asked the administration “exactly how am I supposed to get to class without Rt 66 or 395?” GMU has decided to close the Arlington campus entirely and cancel classes (but keep the campus open) at Fairfax and their other ancillary locations. So if you were planning on going to the first day of classes on the 20th: Don’t.

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.

  1. Yeah, this gets bonus points in my book… Supposedly my class started that day (even though it’s scheduled regularly for Wednesdays). The course schedule on-line doesn’t reflect the change… but it’ll give me an extra day to extract myself from the hangover.

  2. The Provost sent out an email a month ago saying that classes would indeed be held on Inauguration day. I knew that would never stick, and if it did — I’d be skipping the first day of class (like many other students would most likely be doing as well).
