Good Friday Morning, Washington! How are you out there? Is that, actual, like, sun? WHAT? Here I was thinking we had turned into the Amazon. I had bought a mosquito net and everything. But just in time for a *hopefully* sunny weekend, here’s all the news fit to eat in the District this week. We’ve got the Washingtonian Best Of Washington Party, Galileo III, a Mondavi wine dinner, where to celebrate Bastille Day, and um, Asian picnics on 4th of July (what?). Read on, dear readers.

Washington’s top restaurants and wine and beer purveyors will be serving up their best at Washingtonian’s Verizon Wireless Best of Washington party at the National Building Museum on July 15. Editor- and reader-favorites including Central Michel Richard, Citronelle, Blacksalt, Hook, Charlie Parker Steak and the Oval Room will participate in the annual event which attracts more than 1,200 people and shares a portion of the profits with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Party goers will also sample beers from Kona Brewing Company, Goose Island, Widmere and several other brewers. Tickets, $95 to $125, are available on washingtonian.com.

The WaPo reported earlier this week that “Roberto Donna finally signed a lease for the former Butterfield 9 space at 600 14th St. NW. In a nod to his Galileo restaurants that once graced P Street and later 21st Street in Washington, the Italian chef is calling his next act Galileo III.” Tom Sietsema has more details on the new restaurant, which will be “considerably smaller than Donna’s second Galileo, with just 75 seats spread throughout a main dining room”

Smith & Wollensky is hosting a special dinner in honor of the late Robert Mondavi on Wednesday June 24, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is five courses paired with Robert Mondavi wines including: the 2006 Robert Mondavi Winery Chardonnay Reserve (paired with chilled sorrel soup) and the 1999 vintage of the iconic Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (paired with filet mignon). The price, including tax and gratuity is $95.

Bastille Day, celebrated on July 14th, is an exciting celebration for the French, as it commemorates the storming of Bastille Prison back in 1789 and the launch of the French Revolution. This year Bastille Restaurant will pay homage to their namesake and bring both national holidays together in Alexandria, Virginia. Diners can create their very own French-American alliance and “mange” on Chef Christophe Poteaux’s delicious three-course prix-fixe menu with a medley of classic yet contemporary bistro dishes that draw both French and American influences. The “Celebrate the Revolutions” menu is available for dinner from July 3rd through July 14th for $35.00 per person, excluding Sundays.

Forget about grilling up traditional hamburgers and hot dogs this 4th of July and celebrate with Asian fusion from Asia Nine Bar and Lounge. Enjoy our Nation’s Capitol’s festivities with a one-of-a-kind take-out barbeque menu designed for the patriotic Washingtonians looking for a quick grab in order to go picnic on the National Mall. Asia Nine will also feature independence day inspired sushi rolls and red and white sake combos. The specials are available from Friday, July 3rd through Thursday, July 9th.
