Happy Friday, DC! I’m so ready for the weekend, aren’t you? So food news, let’s do it: 2 times the Top Chef news, and a Belgian Independence Day celebration and more round out all the news fit to eat in the District.

Two DC Chefs will be on Bravo’s Top Chef Las Vegas season – Bryan Voltaggio of Volt and Mike Isabella from Zaytinya will represent! For more info, Metrocurean has the scoop, including a lil video.

Brasserie Beck Belgian Independence Day Celebration is happening July 21st. Brasserie Beck is celebrating Belgian Independence Day on site and will feature importers and brewers from the best Belgian breweries. Celebration will be held rain or shine. Stefaan Soutman the brewer/owner of Brouwerij de Musketiers will be present to unveil Antigoon. Antigoon is 6% dry, brown ale reminiscent of British-style brown ale in body and alcohol content. The Belgian yeasts that are used to ferment the beer give it some fruity esters in the nose making it an easy drinking “session beer.”

Art and Soul, located in the Liaison Capitol Hill, is hosting a Top Chef Master’s Viewing Party on Wednesday, July 22nd for when Chef Art Smith takes on three other celebrity chefs to win money for his charity Common Threads. The party will be held in ArtBar from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m., and will feature complimentary hors d’oeuvres that showcase classic Art Smith dishes. Chef/Owner Art Smith was chosen to compete on Bravo’s Top Chef Masters where he is pitted against 23 other world-renown chefs for cooking challenges, and the winners of the eliminations are awarded cash donations for their charities.

Katie moved to DC in 2007, and has since embarked upon a love affair with the city. She’s an education reform advocate and communications professional during the day; at night and on the weekends, she’s an owner here at We Love DC.
