I’m back! Betcha didn’t even miss me last week, cause Liam did such a good job of pinch hitting Foodie Round-Up for me. But regardless, it’s me again, and it’s prix fixe-apalooza out there in restaurant news, and there’s some drink news as well. Onward with you, foodie soldier…

PS 7’s is turning its patio into a Pool Party Wednesday July 22nd through the end of the Summer!! There will be an actual pool, lounge chairs and other fun summer accoutrements! PS 7’s Patio Pool Party will be packed with plenty of potent potables created by their precocious princess Gina! She has created plenty of Patio Punches featuring Bombay Sapphire Gin and Gosling’s Rum to please the palate. They will also be offering extended Happy Hour specials from 4-8pm featuring $3 beers and $4 glasses of wine. So bring some friends and enjoy the summer fun!!

Chocolate + Bubbles! Co Co Sala has a new happy hour with plenty of champagne and chocolate to go around. Running from about $4 to $9, grab your drinks and pair them with chocolatey desserts like cupcakes. YUM.

Summer is here and the temperature is rising! Here is a little something that will help cool you off. Beginning on Monday, July 27th, Z-Burger is launching their “FroZen Happy Hour.” You and your friends are invited to come and enjoy .99¢ milkshakes each and every Monday from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00p.m. During your weekly visit, you will be able to select from one of the 75 delicious flavors.

The Source by Wolfgang Puck is introducing a new Chinese banquet-style tasting menu available Monday through Thursday during regular dinner hours in the upstairs main dining room. Inspired by the traditional Chinese custom of friends and family convening over a family-style feast, The Source’s special prix-fixe menu is served in the same fashion and priced at $45 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity. Executive Chef Scott Drewno’s three-course menu offers four appetizers and four entrées for the group to share, with portions customized according to size of the party.

Michael Mina’s BOURBON STEAK, situated within the five-star Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, is pleased to unveil Classic American Suppers which change nightly and are available seven days a week. Priced at $50 per person (tax, gratuity and beverages excluded) on Sundays through Wednesdays, $60 per person on Thursdays and Fridays, and $70 per person on Saturdays, these three-course menus are available through Labor Day and represent an exceptional value at this top rated restaurant in the nation’s capital.

Owners Umbi and Kavita Singh are pleased to announce the opening of the café at New Heights restaurant. The 34-seat space, which includes a large outdoor patio as well as the 12-seat Babinga bar now serves a separate, seasonal new American menu from the upstairs dining room – one that has been specially created by Executive Chef Logan Cox to complement the al fresco dining area and the bar’s creative cocktails. New Heights is located at 2317 Calvert Street, Washington DC, around the corner from the Woodley Park Zoo /Adams Morgan Metro rail station on the red line.

Ibérico de Bellota pork meat, considered by many to be the best in its class, is now available at Wagshal’s Market, DC’s premier butcher, and will be featured at Jaleo restaurants in Washington, D.C.; Bethesda, Maryland; and Crystal City, Virginia starting July 28, 2009. Acting as Spain’s unofficial culinary ambassador, José Andrés, chef/owner of ThinkFoodGroup, which includes the celebrated restaurants Jaleo and minibar by josé andrés, and host of PBS’ “Made in Spain,” brought together representatives from Spanish exporter Fermín and Wagshal’s while shopping at the DC butcher. Jose threw a foodie party at his house, which was reported on by Alex over at Brightest Young Things, where you can see all the porktastic pictures you could want.

GQ Magazine’s Bartender Search Chose One from D.C. for the Finals: Brennan Adams of TenPenh. As one of 40 national finalists and the only one from Washington, D.C., Adams will travel to The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, for a final round on August 30. The winner will be featured in a four-page spread in GQ Magazine, and revel in the title of “Inspired Bartender.”

On Saturday, September 5th , landmark restaurant Old Ebbitt Grill will roll out the good times with delicious fare, libations and live music from 6 PM to 11 PM. Come celebrate the last of summer at a grand block party just steps from the White House. The First Annual Old Ebbitt Grill Block Party will feature non-stop live entertainment, mouth-watering, socializing fare including burgers, jumbo lump crab cake sandwiches, beef brisket, shrimp cocktail, bratwurst and more, along with thirst-quenching frozen beverages such as White Lemonade, Blue Margaritas and Strawberry Daiquiris, and a great selection of beer and wine. Sponsors include Miller Lite, Blue Moon, Stoli Russian Vodka, Milagro Tequila and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum. Tickets, which are $65 thru August 1st, $75 thru September 4th and $85 if available the day of the event, can be purchased online at www.ebbittblockparty.com. Each ticket includes admission and over $50 worth of food and beverage tickets.
