I experienced my first indoor Metro spitting incident just this morning at L'Enfant Plaza. Genetlement steps up next to me and hawks a lugey right onto the tracks. Nice.

You better hope you never move to Boston and have to ride the T. That thing is horrible. People will just spit on the floor right next to your shoes and you have to plan at least double the time of the average ride because it is so far behind schedule.

You probably meant to write:

"At this, I and those around me laugh."

Ben, I almost wished that you had turned around and said to the complaining Tourist, "Well DUHHHHH!!!!"

It is commutes like this that make me glad that I started driving in to work. That, and the bass-ackward commute that required me to take a train to Metro Center in order to reach my job in Northern VA.

If it's any comfort (and it probably isn't) Metro got me both coming and going yesterday. In the morning, I was on a wonderful train car with no A/C. Cheverly to Metro Center is a 35-40 minute ride; I was soaked with sweat when I got into my office. And then going home at night was that major delay at Stadium Armory. So I hated Metro yesterday. And I know how you feel.

Oh, man. I missed this sort of fun today... but it'll get me tomorrow, I know it will. (And there was the commute westward last night, that was "fun".)

Great writeup of a lousy situation to be in!

A few more weeks and the tourist season is over! although I was slightly amused about the Georgetown comment. Unfortunately no, Georgetown is Georgetown and SoHo is SoHo.

Captial South and the monument...hilarious! Oh, if I could have only been there for realization of the long ass trek to the only non-descriptive monument to a president ever.

It's scary how accurate this is and why I couldn't wait to get out of Springfield... and now that I'm 90 minutes away, riding MARC with its Congress-esque efficiency, I might be among the few who wouldn't mind being having a more accessible, Metro-centric commute...
