This week has screamed vacation, DC is desolate. And rightly so, cause this humidity and heat is enough to make anyone crazy. Thus, the food news has been slow to surface this week. We’ve got a few things, though, so read on for all the news fit to eat in the District.

Chef/Partners Kaz Okochi and Richard Sandoval are pleased to announce Antonio Burrell as Chef de Cuisine of Masa 14, the new 100-seat Latin-Asian hotspot opening at 1825 14th Street, NW in September 2009, which will serve dinner and weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The all-small plates menu will incorporate Asian and Latin flavors, and will be priced from $6 to $14. I interviewed Burrell a while back, check it out here.

Restaurant Week is next week – did you make your reservations yet? Here are my recommends.

Capital Spice has been blogging all about Top Chef, and you can meet the three chefs from the DC metro area here.

In case you missed it, around We Love DC in food news: I tell you about the lunch wheel that decides where you should eat for lunch, Karl gets stoked because Pedro and Vinny’s food cart has added a second location, Donna and I check out the locovore dinner at Charlie Palmer Steak, a few commenters battle it out over Carl’s post on naked sushi, I visit Marvin for We Love Food and tell you about how it’s #100 on the Washingtonian Best Of list, Donna shares with you a few fishy movies, and finally, I tell you where to get your street eats.

Katie moved to DC in 2007, and has since embarked upon a love affair with the city. She’s an education reform advocate and communications professional during the day; at night and on the weekends, she’s an owner here at We Love DC. Katie has high goals to eat herself through the entire city, with only her running shoes to save her from herself. For up-to-the-minute news and reviews (among other musings), follow her on Twitter!
