Cupcake Chaos

Happy Customers by Max Cook

We love free things.  We also love cupcakes.  When you combine those two things together you get a glorious thing: free cupcakes.  It just rolls off the tongue nicely doesn’t it?  But what would you put yourself through to get a free cupcake vs actually paying for one?  Would you wait in line for 15+ minutes?  Apparently so.

At 10:30, the free cupcake line snaked around the corner

I had an errand to run down at the circle and thought I too would stop in for my very own free cupcake.  As I rounded the circle my eyes got wide and I let out a little laugh.  I didn’t expect a line of people down the block waiting for a free piece of cake that would take them 5 minutes or less to eat.  Where did they come from I wondered?  It was 10:30 in the morning.  Were they on an early lunch break?  Were they unemployed and happy to get anything for free?  I did notice that there were far more women in line than men.  Do women like cupcakes more than men do?  I suppose that wouldn’t surprise me.

The glorious, free cupcake

In the end I opted to go on with my day and go back to Hello Cupcake at another time when I could pay a couple of bucks for my cupcake and avoid a giant (Great Depression like) line.  For those of you who waited, was it worth it?

  1. I was in line for about 15 and, as tomorrow is my birthday, felt it was totally worth it for a free root beer float cupcake.
