Happy long-weekend Friday folks! We’ve got some fun food news – a new italian restaurant by Ashok Bajaj, a boozin’ breakfast, half price wine, and Top Chef viewing parties. Read on foodie, there’s plenty of news for you in all the news fit to eat in the District this week.

Bibiana, a 140-seat Italian restaurant opens today, Friday, September 4th on 1100 New York Ave, NW at the corner of 12th and H Streets, in the heart of downtown Washington. This is award-winning Restaurateur Ashok Bajaj’s newest addition to his stellar collection of elegant dining rooms in the nation’s capital and the phone number for reservations is (202) 216-9550 and patrons can also visit www.Bibianadc.com.

Diners are invited to join Rocklands’ founder John Snedden for an early-afternoon of boozin’ breakfast and great grilling on Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 11am to 1pm. Rocklands Barbeque & Grilling Company’s Arlington location will host a Bourbon Brunch on the expansive patio the featuring tastings of four select varieties of bourbon, a whole smoked pig, housemade cornbread, fresh omelet station, rib tips, lemonade, iced tea and all the sides and fixins’. Ricks Gourmet Market of Alexandria will also be on-hand to offer craft beer tastings.

From now through September 5, 2009, you can enjoy another week of gastronomic bliss though extended Restaurant Week, but with the added pleasure of one or two bottles of wine at half the price. DC Coast, TenPenh, Ceiba and Acadiana are offering half-priced bottles of wine, all day, to ease your way back to work after Labor Day.

Westend Bistro Chef de Cuisine Joe Palma invites guests to celebrate Jennifer Carroll, his former colleague at Le Bernardin, and current Chef de Cuisine of sister restaurant, 10 Arts Bistro & Lounge in The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia, as she competes this season against other chefs from around the country on Bravo’s Top Chef: Las Vegas. During Top Chef Wednesdays at Westend Bistro, guests can view the hit TV show on 4 large flat screen TVs located in the trendy Westend Bistro bar and the hotel’s comfortable Lobby Bar. Guests will enjoy complimentary orders of Chef Carroll’s famous, one-of-a-kind Warm Soft Pretzels with creamy cheddar sauce, Jalapeño jam, and Dijon mustard. Hotel guests checking in during the Top Chef hour will also be welcomed with delicious pretzel appetizers. The weekly screenings will continue for as long as Jennifer remains on the show.

Newcomer BRABO by Robert Wiedmaier in historic Old Town unveils a new three-course Early Supper Menu, available seven days a week exclusively from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM for $38 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Guests select an appetizer, entrée and dessert from a menu crafted by Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington’s “Chef of the Year” Robert Wiedmaier, featuring ingredients and products from local Virginian and eco-friendly farmers. The Early Supper Menu is offered in addition to BRABO’s a la carte menu. Guests can include a glass of eco-friendly white or red wine such as Santa Julia Organica Torrontes and Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza, Argentina for an additional $7.

Legal Sea Foods is warning Washingtonians that they’re guaranteed to be shell-shocked when enjoying the restaurant group’s Oyster Festival this fall. Beginning September 7 and lasting through October 17, Legal Sea Foods Washington area restaurants will celebrate everything oysters via menu features and a special signature cocktail. Legal’s feature menu will offer the delicacy au natural on the half shell, priced at $2.25 per oyster or the Oyster Choister features a selection of available varieties at $12.95 for 6-piece and $25.95 for 12-piece. Legal will also showcase the seasonal gems in various preparations such as baked Oysters Legal and in a Traditional Oyster Stew.

Brookland Cafe in historic Brookland offers wine, sweets, vegetarian options and daily specials and themed nights. They recently announced all the theme nights such as Football game SPECIALS – Beer Tasting and Football and Vegan DELITE NIGHT.
