Ah, Friday, so we meet again. This week in all the news fit to eat in the District, we have fall cook-outs, Oktoberfest celebrations in Reston, and the obligatory wine dinner. Read on, dear reader.

The sights, sounds and smells of a German Oktoberfest celebration will again fill Reston Town Center, 11900 Market Street, Reston, VA, from Friday, October 9 through Sunday, October 11, 2009. Attendees can enjoy German food, beer and wine along with live entertainment plus carnival rides, all presented by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce (GRCC). Oktoberfest Reston is open Friday from 3 pm until 11 pm, Saturday from 11 am until 11 pm, and Sunday from 12 pm until 7 pm, with free admission and parking. Food and drink is available in exchange for tickets purchased for $1 each, or a sheet of 24 for $20. Participating restaurants include: Cafe Montmartre; Clyde’s of Reston; The Counter; Il Fornaio; Market Street Bar & Grill – Hyatt Regency Reston; McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant; Mon Ami Gabi; Red Hot & Blue; Uno Chicago Grill; Vie de France Bakery Café; Vinifera – Westin Reston Heights.

The Palm Restaurants will partner with the World Food Program (WFP) as part of its “Fill the Cup” campaign to feed hungry school children worldwide. Beginning today, when guests order The Palm’s house specialty, jumbo Nova Scotia Lobster dish in any of The Palm’s 26 U.S. restaurants, the restaurant group will donate a portion of the sales to WFP. The Palm has committed to raise a minimum of $100,000.

The Roof Terrace Restaurant at the Kennedy Center joins forces with Maryland’s own Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard to welcome fall with a celebration of local wines and the season’s freshest bounties. On Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00 p.m., the restaurant alongside the local vineyard will host a delectable four-course wine dinner featuring specially crafted fare by Chef de Cuisine Vatche Benguian paired with Sugarloaf’s finest local wines. All three wines being showcased earned medals in the 2009 International Eastern Wine Competition and boast unique tastes that are the perfect complement to each course.

Each Wednesday, weather permitting, downtown’s historic icon, Occidental Grill & Seafood is heating up the fall with a weekly grill-out on the recently refurbished and decorated patio. Executive Chef Rodney Scruggs will feature an exquisite grilling menu only offered on Occidental’s expansive outdoor patio. Enjoy the refreshing night air at this DC institution, located on Pennsylvania Avenue, just two blocks from the White House, while feasting on cuisine coming straight from the charcoal grill.
