DC’s “extreme food” scene gets a national audience tonight at 10:00 p.m. The host of the Travel Channel’s show Man v. Food, Adam Richman, recently came to DC on his adventure around the country to find and eat large quanities of good food.

Adam will be starting at Ben’s Chili Bowl. ‘Nuf said. Adam’s trip to Ben’s is complete with a Bill Cosby impression and a seat in the same chair President Obama sat in when he visited.

His next stop is Horace & Dickies Seafood-Chicken Carry Out in NE. Adam dines on a fried fish sandwich with 8 slices of bread,  4 or 6 fried fish fillets, hot sauce, tartar sauce, and coleslaw – which has been made the same way since 1990.

Adam’s main challenge is in Annapolis and is so monstrous, only 2 people out of hundreds have completed it. It’s called The Colossal Challenge at Chick and Ruth’s Delly. Adam has 1 hour to finish a 6-pound milkshake and a 1-1/2 pound cold cut sandwich. He also finds a local woman who agrees to go in with him for the win.

Whether or not they make it — we’ll just have to wait and see! Tune into the Travel Channel at 10:00 p.m. EST.

Cathy was fortunate to spend a year in Paris – traveling to all surrounding countries and touring all that is worthy. Upon realizing that there is no place like home (she does hail from Kansas City – but did not click her heels to get back – thank you, Air France), she returned to America where she set out to explore every last inch of our massive country. From her base in the nation’s capital, she has worked in marketing and event planning for the past 4 years. Mail any and all DC related tips to Cathy (at) WeLoveDC (dot) com.

  1. I love this show, if you’ve never watched it before you’ll enjoy it. He’s in Baltimore next week, if I remember right, so a little more local flavor to be had as well!
