Candy corn cones on the streets of DC

A local artist known as ‘Diabetik’ has been doing guerrilla art installations of candy corn around the city. You don’t want to eat them, however – they’re painted traffic cones or stickers. You can look at the full set of candy corn shots on Flickr. I’ve included my two favorites after the jump.

I love the way this one becomes a part of the other standard barricades. It makes me think of a wild animal trying to blend in and not quite succeeding.

I don’t find this very visually interesting but the description says “these were put out in a pile, somebody came along and set them all upright.” I love that someone interacted with the “installation,” I think that’s a fun aspect of street art.

Thanks, Diabetik, for permission to showcase these.

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.
