So David Baldacci is the inspiration for Castle?

WTOP has an article up about the traits of MPD Chief Cathy Lanier that made their way into David Baldacci’s new book, True Blue. Just like Castle, Baldacci intends to produce more books in a series about D.C. Police Chief Beth Perry. Unlike Castle there is no mention of Baldacci making his one ride-along a regular event as he and Lanier solve many wacky crimes and trade bon mots.

Lanier said she was amused at the various traits and bits of her own history that Baldacci used, but makes no mention of the fact that he gave her character a sister named Mason. That’s right: Perry comma Mason.

You’re no Nathan Fillion, DB.

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.
