Some snow plow operation in Arlington has seen fit to pile this massive snowbank right on top of a pedestrian crossing outside Clarendon Metro, forcing walkers to walk around it, on the road, dodging ice and skidding cars to get across Wilson Blvd. Hey, Arlington, I know it’s hard to figure out where to put all this snow, but if you’re trying to encourage walkability in the county, you’re doing it wrong.
It’s pretty much the same all around Arlington, pretty pathetic when compared to DC (for sidewalks) and Fairfax (for roads).
Haha….it’s not just a problem in Clarendon. It’s a problem in Ballston and Virginia Sq too. Also, there are giant puddles everywhere that soak your feet and make you think you have frostbite by the end of the day. You have to laugh though…what else is there to do?
SO MUCH FROZEN SIDEWALK FAIL IN ARLINGTON. (I have butt bruises to prove it.)
Here’s one thing the government numbskulls could do: Just look in the picture and you’ll see a car parked just by the intersection. So why not sacrifice a parking place rather than block pedestrians at the intersection? Another thing that’s so aggravating in the People’s Nanny-state Republics of Arlington and Alexandria is that they ticket businesses and residences for not shoveling their sidewalks LONG before the local governments have cleared a walkway on the sidewalks for which they’re responsible. What else can we do? We can turn over our health care to the government. They do such a good job with everything else they touch.
