Well, sorta. The Crystal City BID started a farmer’s market last year and handled management themselves. Washington Business Journal reports that when it returns in May it’ll be managed by FreshFarm, the non-profit organization that handles 9 other local markets, including the Dupont and the White House location.

It’s good news for those of us who reside in what I like to call The Area Formerly Known as Part of D.C. The contract is for three years, so presuming it continues to be successful that should provide some nice consistency.

I’m happy to see them get the contract just based on their sense of whimsy. FreshFarm’s website says of this weekend’s Silver Spring and Dupont Circle markets “Farmers and producers will attend based on their ability to dig out of the snow and get to market.”

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.
