Comedy in DC: Table Scraps Edition

These next couple of weeks are a little sparse on the comedy front, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. The Washington Improv Theater FIST competition continues apace, with round 1 finishing up this weekend. They’ve already got some highlight video posted, so you can see if competitive amateur improv looks like a fun night out to you.

At the Arlington Drafthouse this weekend is Carlos Alazraqui and Cedric Yarbrough, stars of Comedy Central’s Reno 911, a show I’ve never understood the appeal of, but I seem to be in the minority on that point, so maybe you’d like to go see them.

And it’s not that a national headliner at the Warner Theater needs me to talk about him, but if loving Ron White is wrong, I don’t want to be right. And since I’m writing the article, I get to make the exception. Especially since I’ll be buried in annual conference stuff at Ye Olde Day Job and won’t get to go.

There’s also a new open mic at the Capitol Skyline Hotel on Thursday nights at 8PM, that will also feature some scheduled imported talent as well. You should check that out, if you aren’t boycotting the Skyline.

And finally, Seaton Smith continues his sketch directing endeavors with “Spook Stalkers,” a parody of “Ghost Hunters.” I advise you not to show this one around the office or HR will have you in diversity training so fast your head will spin.
