There’s nothing like a discussion of the height limit to get people up in arms in the District– love it or hate it, it’s quite a polarizing issue.  The National Capital Planning Commission is commemorating 100 years of the 1910 Height Act with a lecture tonight at 6:30 over at the Navy Memorial’s Burke Theatre.  Hear from Larry Beasley, an “evangelist for urban density” (no question which side of the debate he’s on), who was Vancouver’s former planning director.  The event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are appreciated.

Shannon grew up in the greater DC area/Maryland suburbs, went to Virginia for college and grad school (go Hoos!), and settled in DC in 2006. She’s an urban planner who loves transit (why yes, that is her dressed as a Metro pylon for Halloween), cities, and all things DC. Email her at Shannon (at) WeLoveDC.com!
