Rachel: I’m going back in time on Friday to the era in which I should have been living my early 20’s aka The Big Band Era. It’s easy. No flux capacitor needed, only fine clothing and dancing shoes. I’m headed to the Carlyle Club in Alexandria to see Doc Scantlin and the Imperial Palms Orchestra. Saturday, I’m taking a much needed shopping day in the Friendship Heights/Chevy Chase area with a final stop at the Borders (or Mazza Gallerie for a movie, I make these decisions on a whim at the last minute, it’s more exciting that way) on Wisconsin Avenue for an iced vanilla latte and a good read. What will I be reading? Either Treasure Island or Through The Looking Glass, I haven’t decided yet.) Sunday, I’ll be doing a giant internet search for Nats Fans in the area. Why? For a new feature series I’m working on for the summer! Consider yourself a die-hard resident of NatsTown? Paulo: For the long weekend I’m going to New York to browse art galleries in Chelsea but part of me will be wishing instead to see the Sackler’s visiting exhibition of Cambodian bronzes from Angkor. Also the LOST finale made me want to go to a Target, maybe the one in Columbia Heights.  Michael: The majority of my weekend will be spent relaxing, playing Red Dead Redemption, and watching the Flyers take game 1 of the Stanley Cup (OMG the Flyers are in the Stanley Cup!). If I decide to take in a concert this weekend it will probably be Reverend Horton Heat w/ Cracker at the 9:30 Club on Saturday. Also of note, the 9:30 Club turns 30 on Sunday and Richard Cheese will be performing a special 30 Years of 9:30 Club Music set that night. I will wrap up my long-weekend by seeing Holy Fuck destroy Rock & Roll Hotel with their unique brand of trash-techno on Monday night.

Rebecca: Friday, I’ll be hanging in the city to avoid all the miserable holiday traffic and will be enjoying some roof deck tacos and cervezas at Surfside. Saturday morning I’m headed to Philly to watch the US Men’s Soccer Team take on Turkey in their final World Cup 2010 send off match. After the game, I’ll be tuning into the NCAA DI Men’s Lacrosse semifinals taking place at Baltimore’s M&T Stadium at 4pm (Cornell v. Notre Dame) and 6:30pm (Duke v. Virginia). The winners will be headed to the NCAA DI Men’s Lacrosse Final to be held at M&T on Monday at 3:30pm. I’ll either be watching or attending this game and you can definitely still purchase 3 Day game passes, but you should be able to purchase single day passes shortly. Aside from Monday’s lax game, my Sunday and Monday are unscheduled, which is the way I like to spend long weekends.  Just go with the flow, go with the flow.

Glory: I’m dedicating this Memorial Day weekend to my mom! Friday starts with a picnic and outdoor movie at the Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival. My all time favorite Adam Sandler flick “Happy Gilmore” is playing! Saturday is reserved for thrift store shopping, Eastern market and BBQ’s. OnSunday we have patriotic plans…we’re attending the National Memorial Day Concert at The Capitol. (In her retirement my mom is a new country music fan. She’ll be delighted to hear heartthrob Brad Paisley perform.) Hopefully, on Monday (if we’re not exhausted!) we’ll check out the annual DanceAfrica DC festival. It’s the perfect opportunity for us to learn some new West African & Caribbean dance moves. (We come from a long line of dancers!) Love you mommy. It’s going to be a long weekend — Get ready!

Samantha: This weekend I will be catching the Sex and the City movie in Georgetown Friday night (hopefully if it doesn’t sell out), and then on Saturday I am leaving DC for the holiday weekend to go to New York to visit family (i.e. my grandparents).  Good-bye for now DC…

Tiff: We’re headed out of town this weekend, so look for us sitting in traffic on I-70. But if we were in town, no doubt we’d be grilling in Brookland, celebrating the 9:30 Club’s anniversary, picking strawberries, and hitting the farmer’s markets.

Corinne: This three-day weekend (thank you thank you thank you) I will be celebrating the opening of my apartment’s rooftop pool (wahoo!) and the arrival of two very special visitors in town from the lovely Pacific Northwest. I’m thinking that the W’s POV’s Roof Terrace is always an awesome treat for out-of-town guests, and we will also fit in some required visits to DC’s finest memorials and monuments. Other than that, we will just enjoy catching up, no doubt over BBQ feasts and chilled bevvies. Happy holiday weekend!
