Looking for some motivation to get in shape this fall?  What better inspiration is there than helping to fulfill the wishes of kids with life-threatening illnesses?  Mark your calendar for September 25 for the Make-a-Wish Triathlon at Sea Colony.  This Olympic-distance triathlon is held just three hours outside of DC near Ocean City, and proceeds go to making wishes happen for kids in our area.

If you don’t think you’ll be ready to do a full triathlon in 7 weeks, consider signing up for the relay, where you’ll just be responsible for one leg of the triathlon.  Or you can just volunteer for the event and watch the triathletes do their thing. And if you can’t make it out to the beach that weekend, there are plenty of other ways to get involved with the Make-a-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic.

Shannon grew up in the greater DC area/Maryland suburbs, went to Virginia for college and grad school (go Hoos!), and settled in DC in 2006. She’s an urban planner who loves transit (why yes, that is her dressed as a Metro pylon for Halloween), cities, and all things DC. Email her at Shannon (at) WeLoveDC.com!
