Jenn: This weekend is all about the Dog Days of August in my ‘hood, sponsored by the MidCity Business Association and taking place all along the 14th and U Street corridors. From the Studio Theatre Prop & Costume Sale, to boutique fashion sidewalk sales including Redeem, Nana, Lettie Gooch and Treasury, this is always a fun event to wander up and down featuring sales of 70-80%. Many of the local restaurants will have specials too – like Marvin’s rooftop posicles, Cork Market’s donut and lemonade stand, and ACKC’s tropical beach party. Show the love to one of DC’s most vibrant communities, and get some sweet sale action for yourself too!

John: I’m taking a much-needed break this weekend and going somewhere (really, I don’t know) with my girlfriend on a trip planned by Magical Mystery Tours. All we know is that there will be a beach and that we show up at DCA at oh dark thirty on Friday morning. If I wasn’t mystery vagabonding, I’d be heading to DJ Lil’e’s 80s Prom Night at the Black Cat Mainstage on Friday night, with a bite to eat at Bar Pilar. Sunday Brunch would probably involve Bacon at Eola or a Cowboy Breakfast with a live bluegrass band at Fireflies in Del Ray. Something awesome about bluegrass and breakfast.

Katie: I am training for a September road race right now, so you can find me crosstraining by getting my ass kicked in bootcamp class at Golds Gym. CityShopGirl also had a promotion for a yoga class at Saffron that is up for consideration. When I am not working up a sweat, I’m also antsy to check out the bocce court at Vinoteca, nothing is more relaxing than a glass of wine with a side of lawn games. Finally, I will probably close the weekend at the Donovan House Hotel getting a tan on deck at the rooftop pool.

Kirkles: I’ll start the weekend off with some Jazz in the Garden, provided it’s not too hot, tomorrow and then cavort around H street for some drinks.  On Saturday morning I’ll head to Mi Tierra Farmer’s Market, a collection of Latin American food stands in Adams Morgan that I just discovered last week (honestly, one of the best kept secrets in DC.) That evening, I’m going to finally go to 2 Amy’s, which I’ve heard tell of but never actually visited.

Max: My weekend will mainly be spent up at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic where it looks like the weather will be surprisingly pleasant for a change.  With some big upsets in the past few days, I don’t know who I’m rooting for anymore, but I know I’ll be watching some great tennis.  I’m hoping to make it to the opening of Matthew Mann: The Cinecitta Chapel at Flashpoint on Friday night, and I won’t miss the second annual SynchroSwim at the Capitol Skyline Hotel on Sunday.

Ben: Despite the supposed heat and humidity this weekend, we’ll be heading out to NMAI to enjoy some of the events at the Living Earth festival, including a free concert by Bill Miller, Shakti Hayes, and Murray Porter on Saturday night. There’s a lot going on, including a market, symposiums, and an Iron Chef-style cookoff on Sunday. Of course, this is also the last weekend of the Brian Jungen exhibit, so wandering that magnificent exhibition is a must as well. (Disclosure: NMAI has paid for advertising for the Jungen exhibit on We Love DC, but Ben would be there this weekend either way.)

Tom: While I’m working this weekend, I’ll be dreaming of the DC Farmers Markets I’ll be missing while I’m moving some computers around.  I’ll be missing Dupont, and Courthouse and Bloomingdale, which totally bums me out.  Were I not working, you could spot me there, I’m certain.  I am hopeful that I might get away from the migration in order to take a walk on the Met-Branch trail that runs through my neighborhood, but I know that we’ll be trying to hit up San Antonio Grill this weekend.  If things calm down in time on Sunday, there’s an awesome Synchro Swim art/performance art/athletics thing going on at the Capitol Skyline.

Rebecca: Post work I’ll be getting my Friday drink on with some cooling alcoholic beverages at Bourbon in Glover Park. I’ll probably throw in tater tots as well. Why the heck not?!!! Saturday I’ve got a wedding to attend in the area, so I’ll be primping for and attending that all day.  Sunday, depending on the weather and humidity, you’ll either find me outside reading/napping, or I’ll be at Bethesda Row catching the Swedish film “The Girl Who Played With Fire.” I’m hoping this sequel will be as good as “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.”

Rachel: Friday starts out with happy hour at Lauriol Plaza. If you haven’t had their margaritas then you better hustle over there fast. They’re some of my favorite tequila treasures in this city. Hands down. Saturday I might make my way to Eastern Market and get myself a Breakfast Brick (yet another edible treasure the District has to offer) followed by an iced coffee and some reading by the Dupont Circle fountain. There’s just something about the sound of a fountain I find calming on a warm day. Mix that with some Kurt Vonnegut and it’s practically Zen-like. Sunday will likely be spent taking a stroll near my apartment complex in one of D.C.’s many “hidden” National Park trails. You can find this one at the corner of Massachusetts Ave NW and Macomb Ave NW.

Samantha: I work on Saturdays, which could be a real bummer. However, lately I am finding some joy watching all of the crazy people stand on line for Georgetown Cupcake in the hot, humid, gnarly heat.  I wonder how much money I could make if I sold water to people on line?  If you want to start a side business with me, let me know. I try to make up for my Saturday on Sunday, which will be jammed, fitting in the following in no particular order: Yoga at Flow Yoga Center,  Dupont Farmers MarketTryst (I love those Frozen Chais’), and some shopping in Logan Circle for Dog Days of August.
