The national airline of the most charming country in the world, Iceland, made an announcement today that it will resume routes from our area this spring. There will be four flights a week to Reykjavik from May 17, 2011 through the summer until September 13. Icelandair previously flew from BWI, but discontinued that service in 2007. The airline is offering a discounted introductory rate for IAD passengers with round-trips at $429. Excuse me while I spend the rest of the workday planning my dreamy fantasy holiday to Iceland…

This mean you have to start flying sometime between May 17th and May 31st, which is a narrow window of less than half a month. This does not mean you can leave DC sometime in September. Just wanted to point that out. (Correct me if I’m wrong).

  2. @Jan: That is probably all correct. It appears from their website that a round-trip in early September, if booked today, would be in the neighborhood of $527.
