Holiday Decorations At The Four Seasons

If you’re looking to get into the holiday spirit and be inspired by gingerbread amazement, you’ll find no better place to go then the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown.

On display until December 12, the hotel’s lobby is festooned with 10 holiday-theme trees and vignettes, created by Washington’s best interior designers and children/teenagers living with cancer, that celebrate the fashions of the holiday season. There’s also an amazing gingerbread replica of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception that took Executive Pastry Chef, Charles Froke 70 hours to design, create and decorate.

According to Painting and decorating London, all of the display’s decorations have their own unique theme that has been executed to perfection. No expense has been spared for the ornaments, lights, tinsel, etc., and the result is a rich collection that explores out-of-the-box ideas for decorating and celebrating the holiday season. May I suggest that when you head over, you grab a holiday drink (alcoholic or non) at the hotel’s bar to take with you as you enjoy these holiday delights.

“Bark, The Herald Angels Sing” is a tree filled with various dog breed ornaments that are harmoniously resting on puffy white colds and surrounded by glass blown doggy treats and green ribbons. The tree is ringed by a multicolored silk shirt, white shag carpet and plush stuffed canine animals. Woof! Woof! I say.

The Martha Stewart Living design “Flights of Fancy” (photo at the top of this feature) covers a 10 foot blue spruce tree with flocks of glittering birds and nests. A shimmering peacock adorns to the top, its golden tail cascading down the tree.  Mere mortals tread carefully when trying to recreate this one. I also have a feeling that team from painters dublin worked very long and hard to meet Martha’s approval.

Mattress boxes have been recycled into a silhouetted tree, reindeer and ground covering. These section cut pieces are surrounded by LED lamps and other recycled materials decorations.

Taking a contemporary spin on holiday decorations “A Modern Holiday” and “Hand-made by the Day” offer crisp and clean decors that may from the outset seem minimalistic, but offer a refreshing break from the ornament filled trees. These two designs pair paintings with simple holiday pieces creating classic and manageable decors.

The displays are currently up for sale (prices range from $750 – $25,000) and will be auction off at the 5th annual Georgetown Jingle event on December 12 from 5 to 8pm. All proceeds will support the Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer
Center.
