Welcome to our own little DC-SPN weekly gimmick, the sports ticker. Don’t have time for a full gamer or time to keep up on some of the offseason or lesser known sports around town? We’ve got your back with some quick hits below. In addition, before we start, check the best betting sites with free bets here and become one of the few persons who have enjoyed free bets.

McNabb’s almost definitely gone, so who will be starting for the Redskins come September 2011? If you’re feeling lucky, go bet on it, as Bodog has released the odds for who will be under center: even money says it’s some free agent QB, 5-2 for a rookie and 7-2 that Grossman comes back to throw it downfield…

The NHL announced its all star selections yesterday, and only two Caps made the cut – Ovie and Mike Green; they could end up on different teams since this year’s teams will be drafted by the players on a televised event next week…

Nick Young sure had a night last night, putting up 43 points in just 22 shots in the Wizards win over the Kings…

The MLS SuperDraft comes up this Thursday in Baltimore, and United are set up with the third pick overall; will the team select one of the seven Akron players in the draft or take a chance on Forward Will Bruin of Indian (as SI predicts)…

Nationals Enquirer asks if this Bryce Harper rookie card can outperform the thousands of dollars that Strasburg’s brought in last year in auction…

Trevor Hoffman never played in the Montreal/Washington system, but the franchise certainly contributed to his MLB-record 601 saves. The closer retired yesterday, and while he has saved more games against the Dodgers than any other team (63), the Expos/Nats offered up a solid 30 closings for Hoffman

Finally, a bad curling joke for the month of January, “How do you stop bacon from curling in pans?” “Take away their brooms!”

Don’t boo me on the way out…we’ll be back next week.
