Ah the cherry blossoms–the time when you finally know it’s spring in Washington. While the Mall will be packed, I’m betting restaurant patios will also start to fill up. So while you’re starting to enjoy some outdoor dining during the cherry blossom season, here are some restaurants offering specials:

As the chef Peter Smith of PS7’s points out, cherry blossom season is not actual cherry season. So his menu will be offered from March to May and will focus on tea-infused dishes to pay homage to the cultural importance of tea in Japan. Some dishes will include an arctic char cured with chai tea, as well as a scallop dish served in a tea broth.

For $44 per person at the Café Promenade in The Mayflower Renaissance Hotel , you can get a four-course dinner featuring dishes like filet mignon with a cherry herb crust and a cherry vanilla gelato with a cherry walnut roulade for dessert. The menu will be offered from March 26 – April 10.

In the realm of cocktails, Jackson 20 and the Grille at Morrison House will offer a cherry brandy cocktail with brandied cherries, cherry-infused bourbon, vanilla ice cream and a candied cherry-wood smoked bacon garnish. Urbana will have a sweet and sour cherry cocktail throughout the cherry blossom festival. Poste Moderne Brasserie will feature a cherry-infused sake cocktail with plum soda.

And if you really want to get hands-on about the cherry blossoms, you can take a pastry class at Adour and learn how to make chocolate macarons with frozen nougat and dried cherries on April 10th.

If you want to taste a little of everything, several restaurants will be serving food and cocktails at the Pink Tie Party which kicks off the cherry blossom festival on March 23rd. Tickets are a little pricey though at $150 per person.

She loves eating at white-tablecloth-three-forks-at-your-place-setting restaurants, but she’ll also be the first to suggest we scarf down some chili dogs at 2 am. Simply put, she loves all things food. You can also read about why she loves DC. Follow her on Twitter and email her at mbialecki (at) welovedc.com.
