Addison: Friday, I am heading to one of my all time favorite spring events: the Mount Vernon Spring Wine Festival and Sunset Tour. In an effort to channel my inner NASCAR driver, some buddies and I are heading out to WV’s Summit Point Kart for a few laps. Saturday night, a friend’s birthday is the perfect excuse to partake in some Dupont Circle nightlife. And, as usual, Sunday I will be out front of the Capitol playing kickball.

Mosley: I get to see one of my cousins graduate from Catholic on Saturday (Congrats Jillian!), so that day/night isn’t exactly free for me.  But if I had that day to myself, you’d find me at Cheverly Day!  Cheverly is my hometown, and I look forward to Cheverly Day for the same reason I look forward to the Fourth of July: the awesome fireworks.  Sunday I’m taking it easy for most of the day, but in the afternoon I’m going to a DC Social Flickr meetup at Malcolm X Park.  Photo nerds will abound, and all are welcome, regardless of your photo experience.  If you’ve ever wanted to talk photography with a bunch of camera enthusiasts, this is the event to go to.

Tom: Everything kicks off Friday night, when I’ll be up at Merriweather Post Pavilion for the M-3 Kix-Off party with Kix and Warrant. Don’t worry, I have good earplugs. Saturday, I’ll likely be at the DC Rollergirls playoffs at the Armory with friends, but I haven’t picked who I’m rooting for just yet. May be a gametime decision. Sunday I’ll probably hit up Cap City Diner, as has been my wont of late, but if I don’t, I’ll likely be at Drunken Brunch at the Passenger that evening

Fedward: I will be at loose ends without the Social Chair, who is going to see Sleep No More in New York. Without me. And yet because her birthday is next week I will be planning and shopping, perhaps with a trip to IKEA for some party supplies, and a trip to Ace Beverage for some other party supplies, probably followed by a trip to Calvert Woodley for more of the second kind of party supplies, and possibly also a trip to Schneider’s of Capitol Hill if I still haven’t gotten all those supplies taken care of. Since I’ll have access to a car I might go to the Market Lunch for breakfast on Saturday, which will also give me an opportunity to grab some farm eggs and butcher bacon at the market.

Saturday night I’ll be with friends at Dino for dinner and whatever Andrew mixes up for us. Sunday I’ll fry up some of that market bacon and eggs before finishing whatever party shopping I didn’t get done Friday and Saturday. On second thought I guess I won’t have time to be at loose ends without the Social Chair.

Don: This is the first weekend in a while that my darling wife and I haven’t been committed to doing an art show so we’re going to unwind… by getting up early on Saturday and looking at birds at the National Zoo. Not the ones that are in the bird house – residents and migratory birds. Saturday evening is a celebration of our friends Jaimie and Dean who ran off to Vegas and got married last month – mazel tov, Joneses! – which you, sadly, are not invited to. But perhaps we can have a bloody mary somewhere Sunday morning once I climb back out of the gutter.

Dave L: I’m going to start this weekend with a trip down to Nationals Park – Friday looks to be a perfect night at the ballpark. Saturday will be a day for a golf out at Andrews Air Force before coming back into town and going down to Bourbon in Adams Morgan for the evening. Finally, after an quick afternoon soccer match, probably will settle in for Sunday Night Baseball at Four Courts or Ragtime with some fellow Red Sox hopeful fans (if I can find any).

Marissa: This weekend will be occupied with one thing and one thing only: tacos. Sunday from 12 – 3 PM at the Rock and Roll Hotel I’m competing in The Food Experiment’s DC taco cookoff competition. Tickets are just 10 bucks and you get booze and tacos. Stop by my booth if you come down and grab a taco! Afterwards, I hope to get a nice cold cocktail and kick back on the roof at the new El Centro DF over on 14th street.

Rachel: The Nats are in town this weekend, so you know where I’ll be. Friday night, my best friend who is graduating from GWU Law (Woo, so proud of you!) has invited me and her bf to some graduation festivities at Nats Park, so that should be fun. Then, the skateboarding dog will be rolling around the ballpark Saturday for Pups at the Park. That should prove to be quite entertaining. Saturday night, I have the honor of joining my friend Pete of MASNSports.com for dinner, though I haven’t picked a place yet. Anywhere low key is a good choice. Suggestions are welcomed. Sunday, I’ve got a GPCSL double-header at Guy Mason Field in Glover Park. We may follow that up with drinks at Bourbon or dinner at Kitchen. We’ll see.

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.

  1. Marissa: I can’t believe tickets are ten bucks and include booze and tacos! I’m in! Mosley: I would love to show up at your Cheverly Day for a chat with all the photo enthusiasts.
