Okay, yes, it might be a sign that I am a little too pissy about Hollywood getting things in our town wrong when my strongest reaction to the trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was “oh come on, the Washington Monument was nowhere near done then!”

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.

  1. The Lincoln Memorial, the Reflecting Pool, AND Rosslyn were also not built during Lincoln’s presidency.

  2. Worse is the perpetuation of the myth that Lincoln was a calloused-hand, rail splitting, Western working man who loved physical labor.

  4. I had the same reaction about the Monument. Doesn’t mean the trailer didn’t rock. But still, it’s this nagging little voice saying “But if they got that wrong, what else did they get wrong.” Yes, in a movie about Lincoln battling vampires.
