This past weekend the 2012 Digital Capital Week kicked off here in Washington. For those that aren’t familiar with DCWeek, it is the city’s annual festival organized by the folks at iStrategyLabs and Tech Cocktail that focuses on many different sections of the tech scene. Anchored by keynote speeches on Wednesday and a conference Thursday at the Artisphere, the week also includes a multitude of hackathons, presentations, meet-ups, networking events, and parties. Lots of parties.

If you are a badge holder or just someone looking for some cool events to hit up, here are a few items that caught my eye as I combed through the DCWeek schedule:

Monday November 5th

Pub Games and Developer Meetup at The Motley Fool

A number of offices and groups are opening their doors during DCWeek (like PunchRock who is also having a happy hour), and the folks at Montley Fool, one of the biggest names in finance are on of them. While the first part of the night takes you behind the scenes of their site, the second part includes drinks and a pub quiz- who doesn’t love pub quizzes!

Washington DC Comedy Writers vs. Technology

First off I didn’t even know there was a Comedy Writers Group in DC, but it appears there is one. Given how the majority of the stuff we share from The Internet are either funny or about cats- this sounds like an interesting chance to come up with the next great meme.

Tuesday November 6th

How to throw a great party!

This isn’t about choosing the right China set or selecting mood music for your dinner get-together. DC is a city of events, and it looks like a great panel of people including reps from BYT and Pink Line Project will be on hand to tell you their secrets of becoming the next member of the Blond Charity Mafia.

Election Night Party

Of course having DCWeek fall during Election Day means they need an Election party. Looks like they will be hosting an event at Rocketbar from 7-10 PM.

Wednesday November 7th

Social Media Club DC: Election 2012 What Associations & Nonprofits Can Learn

I’m a fan of the folks over at SMCDC and looks like they will be putting together a networking lunch and panel discussion with some great people in the non-profit/association space. Perfect for a city where almost everybody that’s not a Government employee works at an NGO.

DCWeek Keynotes

Even if you don’t have a badge, you can attend the keynote speeches for free. Make sure you register to attend ahead of time since seats are limited.

Thursday November 8th

DCWeek Tech Cocktail

The majority of events on Thursday will taking place at the core conference at the Artisphere and are limited to badge holders, but that night anyone can buy a ticket for the Tech Cocktail and mix and mingle with lots of techies and entrepreneurs.

Friday November 9th

DCWeek Closing Party

Who doesn’t enjoy an open bar, live music, and free Shake Shack custard? Sounds like H Street will be rocking as DCWeek comes to a close.
