The Winning Ticket: John Fogerty @ DAR Constitution Hall, 11/8/13

We have a special, unexpected treat today, as the 9:30 Club is presenting the legendary John Fogerty in concert at DAR Constitution Hall on Friday, Nov. 8.

The famous roots rocker will be playing the classic album, “Cosmo’s Factory,” by his former band Creedance Clearwater Revival, along with other hits. The quadruple platinum “Cosmo’s Factory” put CCR on the map with such songs as “Travelin’ Band” and “Who’ll Stop the Rain.”

As a way to say thanks to our loyal readers, We Love DC is giving away a pair of tickets to this John Fogerty show before you can buy them. (They go on sale to the public on Friday, June 14, at 10am.)

Fogerty–singer, songwriter and guitarist–has sold more than 100 million records, earning 18 gold albums and 10 platinum albums. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, won the Grammy Award for his album Blue Moon Swamp in 1997, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005. In addition, Fogerty and his #1 phenomenal recording “Centerfield” were honored during the 2010 National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies–the first time the National Baseball Hall of Fame has immortalized a musician or song as part of the annual ceremonies.

Fogerty released his newest album, “Wrote A Song For Everyone,” on May 28, and it quickly rose to #3 on Billboard, the highest-debuting album of his entire career. Rolling Stone gave the album a rare five-star review. A celebration of his iconic songbook, the album is a collection of 14 songs: 12 classics and deep tracks (CCR and solo material) from his remarkable canon of hits recorded in collaboration with today’s biggest superstars from the country, pop and rock worlds, plus two brand new solo songs, including the new single and video “Mystic Highway.”

For your chance to win these tickets, simply leave a comment on this post using a valid email address between now and noon on Wednesday. Feel free to leave any comment, but I would like to know your favorite Fogerty solo or CCR song!

  1. …and now everything John Fogerty is stuck in my head. I’m partial to CCR’s “Fortunate Son” right now because I heard it on Pandora earlier, but… I’m not picky. It’s (mostly) all wonderful.

    Pick me pick me!

  2. I’ve always been partial the CCR’s version of Screaming Jay Hawkins’s “I put a spell on you”. Put those to together followed by Nina Simone’s version and you have an interesting set.

  3. Ahh this is such a great giveaway! “Fortunate Son” is definitely my fave as it always gets me cuttin’ a rug!

  4. Cosmos Factory has been my favorite CCR album since I bought it in 1971 and Who’ll Stop The Rain was my favorite song then and still is to this day.

  5. Love so many CCR songs, but “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” has to be my very favorite.

  6. Wrote A Song for Everyone!!!!!!!!! Bad Moon Rising!!!! I am so incredibly excited this is happening.

  7. I just went to DAR over the weekend and would love to see a show there! I like Bad Moon Rising.

  8. Been a fan of Fogerty’s music since listening to Centerfield as a kid getting ready to play Little League Baseball. I love all of his work and have never seen him live, I would love to!

  9. Born on a Bayou, But remake of Heard it Through the Grapevine was favorite recording..

  10. John Fogerty is not only a legend, but a national treasure. I love the new version of Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, and Long As I Can See The Light (on the Everyone album just released). However, my long time favorite will always be Born On The Bayou.

  11. To this day, I put on “Cosmo’s Factory” and I am 13 again, an Air Force Brat, living in East Africa (Asmara, Eritrea), listening to the amazing new music just in at the PX. Played that album over and over again until I knew every single word, and gazed at the album cover for hours until every detail was familiar. Best music of my youth — possibly the BEST music ever! John Fogerty is my favorite musician ever! “Travelin’ Band”, Baby! Peace and Love.

  12. Someone already said it, but I too love the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins cover, I Put A Spell On You…love the original as well.

  13. Man I love me some CCR and John Fogerty. I’ve been digging his new album! Would love to win tickets!!! down on the corner is such a part of my childhood, my parents would play CCR records all the time.

  14. Would be amazing to hear Rock and Roll Girls! One of his best vocal performances. In fact, I’m going to go listen to it right now…

  15. Planning on getting tickets for Father’s day but would LOVE to win them instead. “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” was my dad and my song when I was a kid!

  16. I love “Deja Vu (All Over Again)”. Mr. Fogerty came up with a powerful protest song with ties to the past but with current events in mind. He had the guts to speak out. His shows are filled with multiple songs, all worthy of putting him in the Hall of Fame.

  17. John Fogerty is a national treasure. Dad played it all of the time and I have followed him all through the years.
    Solo – “Southern Streamline”
    CCR – “Ramble Tamble”
