Free concert goodness

If you spend any amount of time on the net at all there’s a good chance that you’ve seen the above video, with ukelele superstar Jake Shimabukuro doing an amazing cover of “While my guitar gently weeps.” As it turns out, the man is a touring machine and will be in town for several performances. I always enjoy Ram’s Head Tavern in Annapolis and may go out for a show (nothing says love like taking your darling girlfriend to a ukelele performance on Valentine’s day) but he’ll also be at DAR Constitution Hall on the 17th.

For free.

The United States Air Force Band is sponsoring a series of free events there on the next few Sundays
, starting this weekend with the band Restless Heart on the 10th. The 17th is Jake Shimabukuro, the 24th is Jubilant Sykes and the series wraps up on March 2nd with Empire Brass.

All the shows are at 3pm and doors open at 2p, no tickets required.

DAR Constitution Hall, 3pm on Feb 10th, 17th, 24th and Mar 2nd
1776 D Street NW

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.
