Rachel Levitin

Rachel moved to DC in the fall of 2005 to study Journalism and Music at American University. When she’s not reading any and everything about Major League Baseball, Rachel works on maintaining her personal blog. She is also an accomplished singer-songwriter-musician. Rachel has also contributed to The Washington Examiner in addition to her work with a new creative, collaborative blog Trauma2Art and MASN Sports' Nationals Buzz. You can follow Rachel on Twitter, see why she loves DC or even get in touch at Rachel@WeLoveDC.com!

Carl Weaver

Carl Weaver is a writer and brewer for RealHomebrew.com and has been making beer and wine for more than 20 years. He is also an avid photographer and writer and just finished his first book, about a trip he took to Thailand to live in Buddhist monasteries. He considers himself the last of the Renaissance men and the luckiest darned guy in the world. Follow him on Twitter.

David Huzzard

David Huzzard was born at Fairfax Hospital in 1981 and has spent his entire life in the Washington, D.C. area. He has been a fan of all the area sports teams either since he was born or since they arrived here. He is also very pleased that his hometown is a burger town.

Marissa Bialecki

Marissa was born and bred in New Jersey, but moved to DC for undergrad at GWU (Go Colonials, go!), fell in love with the District and learned that there was life and civilization beyond New York City. She loves eating at white-tablecloth-three-forks-at-your-place-setting restaurants, but she'll also be the first to suggest we scarf down some chili dogs at 2 am. Simply put, she loves all things food. You can also read about why she loves DC. Follow her on Twitter and email her at mbialecki (at) welovedc.com.

Addison H

Addison is a fourth generation Washingtonian, actually born and raised within city limits of DC. He currently resides in Arlington and works in DC as a government lackey. Addison can be reached at addison (at) welovedc.com

Mosley.Brian

Brian is so DC. Born on Pennsylvania Ave (not there) to a lifelong Federal worker father and a mother who has worked for Garfinkel's, the Smithsonian, and Mount Vernon. Raised on the “mean streets” of Cheverly, MD; went to high school at Gonzaga College High School (Hail Alma Mater!); and now trolls the corridors of Congress as a lobbyist, you couldn’t write a more quintessentially DC back-story. When he isn’t trying to save the country from itself, Brian can be found walking DC looking for that perfect photograph.

Brittany

Brittany has tried to leave DC, it just never lasts. She has lived in Chicago, California, and China - but she always comes back home. Brittany is a drinks, nightlife, and style correspondent for We Love DC. Between columns, you can find her on Twitter, Tumblr, or standing by the bar. Email her at brittany(at)welovedc.com.

Will Packard

Will moved to DC 33 years ago to go to college and never left. By day he is the director of finance at an interactive marketing agency near Dupont Circle. When not hanging out at Kettler Iceplex or Verizon Center, he can often be found out rowing on the Potomac River or searching for the perfect burrito.

Mickey

In the same way someone might enjoy a competitive football game or a gripping mystery novel, Mickey enjoys a good new wave song. He spends a lot of his free time dissecting the ways in which a synthesizer-driven single generates a particular ambiance that makes people dance -- call it new wave, next wave, now wave. That said, he has an amazing interest in how it all fits together. He is drawn, like a moth to the flame, to both the pure punk rock of the guitar and the extraordinary synth-wave of new romanticism. The new wave lies in the vast space between. If you like, you can find him with his friends late every Friday night at Liberation Dance Party, DC's best option for modern new wave dance music.

Jenn Larsen

As one of the founding editors of We Love DC, Jenn's twin passions are theater and cocktails. They seem to get along together just fine. After two decades in the city, she's loved every quirky, mundane, elegant, rude minute of her DC life. A proud cheerleader for DC's talented drinks scene, she's judged ARTINI 2011, the 2010 Rickey Month Contest, and is a member of LUPEC. Theater remains her first love even after jumping the aisle from the stage to become a critic. Send your suggestions to jenn (at) welovedc (dot) com or follow her on Twitter.

Patrick Pho

Patrick has been blogging before it was called blogging. At We Love DC Patrick covers the Washington Wizards, Theatre, and whatever catches his eye. Patrick’s blog stories, rants, and opinions have been featured in The Washington City Paper, Washington Post Express, CNN, Newschannel 8 Washington, and NBC Washington. Patrick was formerly City Captain at DC Metblogs before coming to We Love DC and has also been a contributor to sport websites 4 Sport Boston and GoGameFace. See why Patrick loves DC. You can find him on Twitter at @dmbosstone and you can e-mail him at ppho [at] welovedc.com

Natalia Moreno

While it was Georgetown that brought me here, it was the city that kept me here. I was born in Colombia but spent my teenage years in London, yet have never felt more at home than in the District. I believe the best way to get to know a place is through its cuisine, and plan my life around sharing good food with good people. Lover of lattes, bacon and bourbon. This is Why I Love DC .Follow me on Twitter or Email natalia(at)welovedc.com

Alexia

Alexia was born and raised in Arlington, VA. She has been a cellist since age four, and a lover of rock & roll soon after. The first tape she owned was "Make It Big" by Wham, and the first tape she bought was Nirvana's "Nevermind," and she still loves both. She was a member of local synth-rock outfit Soft Complex for several years, and has recorded with bands including Engine Down and Two if By Sea. By day she works for a non-profit distributing royalties to musicians and labels. She currently plays cello, lap-steel guitar and tambourine in the DC post-folk/Americana band The Torches.

Andrew Markowitz

A photographer for the past 4 years, used to sell inflatable dartboards and solar powered flashlights. Hobbies include muffin throwing contests and competitive ditch-digging.

Ben H. Rome

A happy transplant from Pittsburgh, Ben loves to wander the city with his wife, shooting lots of photos and exploring all the latest exhibits and galleries. During hockey season, he sort of roots for the Washington Capitals but don't expect him to give up his 25 year affair with the Penguins. Constantly writing, he can be found babbling about daily life on Twitter and when he has time, covering the latest exhibitions or interviewing interesting people. Despite his sport allegiance, he truly loves DC and doesn't see leaving the area any time soon. If you've got a museum exhibit/program or other cultural event coming up, drop him a line at bhrome AT welovedc DOT com. We know he'd love to cover it for you.

Joanna

Joanna moved to DC in 2010 knowing she'd love it, and as usual she was right. A dramatic writer, journalist, and human rights addict, she can't help but stare when arts and activism collide. She enjoys eating fried things, drinking scotch and smoking cigars. She makes up for the damage done by snacking on organic oats and barley and walking long distances to wherever with her dog Henry. Joanna lives with her husband in Arlington. Follow her on Twitter or contact her at joanna(at)welovedc.com.

Tom Bridge

I live and work in the District of Columbia. I write at We Love DC, a blog I helped start, I work at Technolutionary, a company I helped start, and I'm happy doing both. I enjoy watching baseball, cooking, and gardening. I grow a mean pepper, keep a clean scorebook, and wash the dishes when I'm done. Read Why I Love DC.

Don

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a "tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy" but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I'll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests. Hmm, guess I just did. My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my "professional" life I've sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects... sometimes at the same place. It's that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC - we've got it all.

We Love DC has had a lot of people contribute to its success. This is everyone who has ever written for us in the past:

Past Contributors

Michael T. Ruhl

Michael came to DC in 2009 via Albuquerque, NM. In his spare time, Michael is a photographer, an audiophile, and a guitar aficionado. His humor is drier than the desert and he often finds himself neck deep in awkward situations. Visit his website.

Corinne

Corinne has attempted to sate her wanderlust by living in Strasbourg, France, and Edinburgh, Scotland, and by embarking on extended jaunts to such far-flung spots as Australia and South America. But there's something about her native Washington that keeps boomeranging her home between adventures. A writer, editor and photographer, she loves spreading the word on the lesser-known gems to be found in this vibrant, international capital. Check out some of her photos at www.ziptripfotos.blogspot.com as well as why she loves DC.

Jonathan

came to DC, left for San Francisco, and then realized he couldn't live without a daily fix of politics and came back. When not traveling to crazy locations, he speaks and writes for a major software house in CA.

Cathy

Cathy was fortunate to spend a year in Paris - traveling to all surrounding countries and touring all that is worthy. Upon realizing that there is no place like home (she does hail from Kansas City - but did not click her heels to get back - thank you, Air France), she returned to America where she set out to explore every last inch of our massive country. From her base in the nation's capital, she has worked in marketing and event planning for the past 4 years. Mail any and all DC related tips to Cathy (at) WeLoveDC (dot) com.

Kirk

Kirk is a Maine-born, military brat who moved no fewer than 12 times during his childhood. He came to the DC area in 2004 for his undergrad and decided that it was the place for him. Since graduating, he's nabbed a job with the Fed and spends most of his free time hunting for cheap thrills in the city. Find out why he loves DC.

Rebecca

A born and bred New Yorker, Rebecca made the big trip "down south" to DC in 2006 and hasn't looked back. She spends her days strategizing about how interwebz/social media marketing can help her clients. In her free time, if she's not out on the soccer field or being sporty in some way, she can be found chilling out at a bar, sipping a beer or out on the town exploring. Read why Rebecca loves DC or follow her on twitter.

Donna C.

An area resident since 1997, Donna C. is a DC outsider. When she's not running her writing and Web business, she's running around the city, exploring the great outdoors, or trying to figure out how best to go green. See why she loves DC.

Erin McCann

Erin takes pictures. Lots of them. And then she tweets about them.

dinghao

Will Seabrook is a collector of half-finished projects, author of half-completed stories, and writer of half-written songs. During the day, he can be found half the time half-heartedly working in Rockville and the other half in Bethesda. The rest of his life is spent half in the DC area and half in Baltimore. He has half a mind to move halfway closer to where he works, but that’d take too much effort by half.

Jennifer Shoop

Jen, aka TheFashionMagpie, is a D.C. native and has not strayed far from the District in her 26 years, save a brief stint in Charlottesville for her undergrad degree at UVA. By day, Jen works for a private foundation. In her spare time, she maintains a fashion blog (www.thefashionmagpie.com), writes for We Love DC, and shops...a lot. Follow her on Twitter @AFashionMagpie.

Dan Rowinski

New England raised, transplanted in Virginia. Sports writer who has spent several seasons on the NHL beat covering the Boston Bruins along with stints writing about Boston College, Red Sox, Capitals and Nationals. Has worked for the New England Hockey Journal, WEEI.com, Fire Brand Of The American League, TBD.com among others. Also a technophile covering technology for ReadWriteWeb. Follow Dan on Twitter @Dan_Rowinski or email him at dan (at) welovedc.com.

jasmine

Jasmine is a Spin magazine contributor who is completely obsessed with music and all things new and different. She's lived in the DC area since 2006, and still has plenty to discover about this great area! Find out why she loves DC.

Amélie

Computer Geek, Music Junkie, Movie Fanatic, Beer Aficionado, Part-Time Amateur Photographer... Amélie has lived in D.C. off-and-on for the past 17 years, always calling the National Capitol region his home. She's also probably one of those types of odd-folks with realms of useless trivia you'd like to have on your side during a pub quiz.

shannon

Shannon grew up in the greater DC area/Maryland suburbs, went to Virginia for college and grad school (go Hoos!), and settled in DC in 2006. She's an urban planner who loves transit (why yes, that is her dressed as a Metro pylon for Halloween), cities, and all things DC. Email her at Shannon (at) WeLoveDC.com!

bstanfield

A decade ago, Ben Stanfield found himself at the intersection of politics and technology as he wandered nomadically around the country managing congressional races. But when he moved to DC 6 years ago, he found that the intersection had become, in the grand tradition of L’Enfant, a circle where politics and technology were joined by science, photography and a host of smaller side streets of interest. These days, he works as a Macintosh Server Administrator for a large governmental health institute in Bethesda. In his spare time, he's an avid photographer, charter member at HacDC, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Columbia Heights Youth Club. In 2005 he founded of Draft Obama, a national grassroots movement to convince Barack Obama to run for President. Everything he writes here speaks for itself and not on behalf of any other group, organization, person, or any of his other personalities.

Tricia Barba

Tricia is a native Washingtonian, born and raised in Columbia Heights. She loves DC so much that she was only able to leave the city for one year after college and immediately came running back. Tricia works in PR during the day, and spends her nights trying out new restaurants in DC with friends or watching The Good Wife, Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. Tricia recently decided to eat her way though all of Zagat's 2011 restaurants until she realized she would be old and broke by the time she finished. Follow her on Twitter and email her at Tricia (at) welovedc.com.

Max

Hailing from the Mile High City, Max has also lived in Tinsel Town, the Emerald City, as well as the City of Brotherly Love. Now a District resident, he likes to write about cool photos by local photographers, the DC restaurant and bar scene, or anything else that pops into his mind.

jordana

In June 2010, Jordana left behind her parents' Montgomery County nest-- and twenty-minute drives to the grocery store, finally-- to start her freshman year of life as a recent grad and genuine DCist. Making next-to-no use of her economics degree, but every ounce of her imagination and longstanding love for writing, she spends her time practicing public relations; blogging and freelancing; exploring offbeat interests like documentary film; and pondering the murals that pepper her walk (or Circulator ride) home from work every day. She can be reached at jordana (at) welovedc (dot) com; or via Twitter @JWTKinDC.

Martin Silbiger

Martin moved from Atlanta to DC in 2007. He works as a software developer for Soundexchange, a non-profit royalty administration organization. A self-proclaimed metal snob, Martin loves bands that push into unexplored territory. He also writes about pop culture here.

arjun

Just like the rapper Oddisee, born in DC and raised in Maryland. Spent several years at College Park pretending to study before joining a non-profit. Plays a few instruments, was in two garage bands, has a MySpace artist page, and is now attempting to create a successful accordion-punk outfit. If you happen to be in Dupont, you may find him browsing the stacks at Kramer's or looking for CDs at Melody Records. Loves the Redskins even though they break his heart every year and is hoping they move back to the city so he can save $40+ on parking/gas when going to the games.

Karl Johnson

Karl is a Washingtonian who lives and breathes everything that is DC. Politics, ethnic restaurants, sad sports teams, the Metro and pretty much anything in between. Karl's life is kind of like going to a Nats' game while eating Ethiopian food and discussing the latest legislation to pass the House. Then cramming on the Metro for a ride home. That 'bout sums it up. See why Karl loves DC or check him out on Twitter.

Patrick Palafox

Patrick comes from the West Texas town of El Paso, and decided to make D.C. his new home in the Spring of '09. He didn't think that he would love D.C., but things changed after it started seeing other people. That's when he knew that he was in love. He is on a mission to find the funny in a town where serious decisions are made and hoping to shine the light on the places that force you to enjoy the fun and ridiculous in life. You can reach him at patrick.palafox@welovedc.com for any comments or requests.

Chris Zimmerman

Born in St. Louis, MO, Chris moved to the District in the summer of 2008. Living in Dupont Circle, Chris is an architecture buff who has spent more hours at the National Building Museum then he cares to admit. Follow Chris on Twitter at @cbzimmerman or shoot him an email at cbzimmer (at) welovedc.com.

Samuel Chamberlain

Samuel Chamberlain is a veteran of the writing process in much the same way that Elgin Baylor was a veteran of the NBA's lottery process. A native of Manchester, NH and a 2010 graduate of New York University, Sam has covered the newspaper business for Editor & Publisher magazine and the Boston Red Sox for the Union Leader and New Hampshire Sunday News. Until March of 2011, Sam was part of the sports team at TBD.com, where he covered, well, pretty much everything.

Duncan C. Vanderpants

The son of a tinker and an acrobat, Duncan Croche Vanderpants was born in St. Germain-en-la-bas in 1935, the youngest of five children. Studying deportment and concavity as a youth, he became an expert marksman before beginning to pursue the arts in any seriousness. As Special Intermittent Correspondent In the Arts for We Love DC, Vanderpants will focus intermittently on corresponding about the arts especially when it happens in DC, which he loves.

David Hintz

Born in 1959 in the same hospital as Bob Dylan, David survived the progressive excesses of the early 70s to embrace the fledgling Dayton Ohio punk scene in the late 70s. After managing Toxic Reasons, working on shows with DOA and Husker Du, publishing zines, and hosting a radio show, he moved into a more lucrative career (while collecting a massive record collection in the mean time). Retired from real work, he has resumed his music work with his blog DC ROCK LIVE. He also reviews CDs for the European magazine Folkworld.

MJ

Melissa Doniger has been in the DC area long enough to remember arguing about the 1968 presidential election on the school playground in first grade, and she's argued about almost every election since. She has worked in law, politics, government, and education, among other fields. Melissa is a liver transplant recipient and volunteers for the United Network for Organ Sharing. She has spoken about transplantation, donation, and the importance of discussing these issues with family members. She loves American history and is looking into the requirements to be certified as an official history nut. She lives just slightly outside the Beltway with Alvin and Simon, rescued tabbicos, who generously allow her use of a limited amount of sleeping space and the computer.

Ashley

Ashley is a born and bred Washingtonian who left for college but came running back to the District as fast as her little legs could carry her. By day she is a Capitol Hill brat, but by night she is a lean, mean, eating machine. It's her goal in life to steal Anthony Bourdain's job...by whatever means necessary. Contact her at Ashley (at) welovedc (dot) com or follow her on Twitter.

Liam Darmody

Liam Darmody moved to DC in 2001 by way of Boston, Beverly Hills, and Toronto, Canada (his home and native land) to pursue his dream of becoming a politician. He changed his dream upon meeting actual politicians and has since been seen eating, drinking, shopping, golfing (poorly), blogging, and goofing off in general around our fair city. By day he works socially as a product manager, and by night he's all over the place. Connect with him digitally via Twitter, Yelp, LinkedIn, or Facebook, or by e-mail at ldarmody at welovedc dot com.

brownpau

Roving Asian mendicant, can occasionally be seen wandering the streets of downtown Washington, muttering unintelligible gibberish to passers-by while pushing a "bag lady" shopping cart full of old blankets, American flags, soda cans, and healthy secondhand snacks from organic food shop dumpsters. Used to live in a cardboard box at 16th and K but the rent was too expensive.

Michael Darpino

Michael splits his free time between defending the little guy and championing the underdog. He has been haunting the concert halls, dive bars, and greasy spoons of DC for the last 16 years. His interests include live rock music, researching obscure military/political conflicts, and good hamburgers. He is a friendly grump, has wisdom beyond his years, and is on a life-long quest to attain music nirvana. Follow him on Twitter if you dare!

Rebecca Gross

Raised in nearby MoCo, Rebecca happily jumped the District line in 2005. When not stuck behind a computer, she can be found exploring the city's many wonders, usually with her trusty canine sidekick Jasper Jones. Questions, comments, concerns? Email her at RebeccaGross (at) WeLoveDC.com.

Nathan Martin

It started in a sweltering heat and quiet times of a small Mississippi town. Spent high school working at the local newspaper and managed to get an infection with newsprint that's kept me poor and busy all the way through college. I currently freelance for a few publications and help keep track of entertainment for the Washington Post Express and its Weekend Pass section. I don't write succinct reviews, but I'm always interested in good music, and if you have a band you think I should check out, email me.

Jason

A professional appreciator who has been living and working in the area for nearly 8 years. A job in the music business brought him here, but his passion for the area kept him here.

AcaciaO

Acacia has lived in DC since graduating from Vassar College with degrees in English and Italian. She cries daily at the thought of her imminent departure from this beloved city, as she will begin a Fulbright teaching grant in the Campania region, Italy come October. She'll be blogging that experience too. Get at her: acaciaO@welovedc.com or follow her on twitter.

William Couch

Couch is a food and craft beer enthusiast based in Arlington. When he isn't building things for the web, you can find him biking around the monuments, shooting photos of the city, or cozied up to the bar of one of DC's growing number of fine beer establishments. He let's his mind (and stomach) speak on Twitter and can be reached at couch [at] welovedc [dot] com.

Moses

Food, Wine & Beer. I loved DC so much for college (Go Hoyas!), I returned here after a 10 year safari. I'm comfortable on both sides of the bar, and in or out of the kitchen. You could say the Whimsy Truck skipped me, but that's probably just because I was checking out a food truck at the time. Oh, and you definitely want me on your trivia team.

John Athayde

John has lived in DC since attending CUA's Architecture school starting in 1995. He is a UI/UX/Design guru for LivingSocial and also plays in numerous bands (Juniper Lane, Rotoscope, Boboroshi & Kynz) and loves hyping people on eating local food, sustainable human settlement patterns, gardening, and good old fashioned rock and roll and electronica. He runs the dirt lab (aka mega garden) for WeLoveDC, where he eats most of the proceeds.

Cameron Norris

A newcomer to the Capitol area, I live in Columbia, MD after moving from Florida in the summer of 2010. Sports and traveling are important to me, I work for a major sports TV network and spend seven months a year on the road covering events all across the nation. I am unrelenting when it comes to the absolute dominance of the Florida State Seminoles, Chicago Cubs, and Jacksonville Jaguars. I have covered D.C. United for We Love DC since March 2011.

Tiffany Bridge

Tiffany Baxendell Bridge is an Internet enthusiast and an incurable smartass. When not cracking the editorial whip at We Love DC, she can usually be found rabble-rousing on the social media flavor of the month, cooking, drinking bourbon, or Bollywood dancing, sometimes all at the same time. Tiffany lives in Brookland with her husband Tom and two high-maintenance cats. Read why Tiffany loves DC.

Glory

Glory is a sophisticated socialite with a flair for effortless style. You can find her strolling on U Street or wandering through thrift stores. Friends love her spontaneous nature, witty humor and uncanny ability to turn obstacles into popsicles. She also enjoys exclamation points in excess!!!!!!! In conclusion, she wants to be your friend.

Samer Farha

Born in Lebanon, Samer moved to DC to go to college. A lot of good that did him. Twenty-two years later, he still lives in the area. When he's not writing for a blog or tweeting incessantly, he wanders the streets (and the globe) photographing whatever gets in his way.
