Wait, it’s a holiday tomorrow?

I work for one of those crazy businesses in DC that doesn’t follow the Federal Government holiday schedule, so I will be slaving away downtown. However, if you’re free tomorrow, there’s a parade in Alexandria, and also a celebration at Mount Vernon complete with…hoecakes?

Hoecakes?

What’s a hoecake? Well, it’s a cornmeal cake that’s baked or fried on a griddle. Apparently the first Dubya liked his with butter and honey. Chow down!

I live and work in the District of Columbia. I write at We Love DC, a blog I helped start, I work at Technolutionary, a company I helped start, and I’m happy doing both. I enjoy watching baseball, cooking, and gardening. I grow a mean pepper, keep a clean scorebook, and wash the dishes when I’m done. Read Why I Love DC.
