It’s hard to believe that winter’s nearly over. Monday marks the calendar switch to March, and there’s just three more weeks of foul nastiness before we turn the corner on Spring, which will be a fantastically wonderful sight for all of us who’ve spent the last four weeks staring at ever-present snowbanks. It’s enough to dream of blooming cherry trees, days spent at the park over a grill, surely, but what about getting some celebrating done?
Enter ShamrockFest at RFK on March 13. It’s your standard outdoor arena concert that runs all day, features about a dozen national and regional acts, and is generally a good excuse to get out of the house for a day. This year’s lineup features area darlings Carbon Leaf and Scythian, as well as Canada’s Enter the Haggis (whom I have on good authority from a friend in upstate New York kick more ass than Chuck Norris in a room full of midgets), as well as national touring acts The Roots and Train.
So here’s the deal, we have a pair of VIP passes to give away, so leave a comment below (remembering to use a good email address, as that’s how we’ll reach you) and we’ll pick a winner by the end of next week. One important thing to remember: VIP passes come with all the beer you can drink (provided you do so responsibly.) so you must be 21 to win, and Shamrockfest will be checking your ID.
Regular tickets can also be purchased for $24.99 right now, and VIP passes can be bought for $69.99. So, drop off a comment here, and enter to win! We’ll see you there.
Who doesn’t love free things?
March 14th will be my 25th Birthday – what a way to celebrate!
This is going to be AMAZING. I will be there, Flip Camera in hand ready to capture it in all its glory.
Ooh, please choose me. I’m 3/4 Irish and even have a shamrock tattoo.
I am a March 17th, St. Patty’s Day birthday girl! Turning 22 this year, would love to celebrate by 22nd in DC at Shamrock Fest!
So excited for Carbon Leaf and Train!
the ROOOOOOOOOTS! I haven’t been to Shamrock Fest since it left Clarendon. Pick me! Pick me!
Just saw ticket prices are going up, be sure to grab them now if you want to save $10. Unless of course you’re feeling lucky.
Oh, and March 13th is my birthday so… hook a brother up.
i love carbon leaf and beer!!!
What’s yellow and green and fizzy all over? Asian girl drinking an Irish beer! Hook it up!
I love beer and it is my holiday being a ginger and all.
I am quite hungry. A Shamrock Feast would be delicious.
Err, a festival may suffice though.
Rock on! Wanna party on th 13th! With You!
Woohoo green beer!
I have been in DC for almost 5 years and have not had the opportunity to go! I would love to experience Shamrock Fest!
Thanks for the reminder! My friends that went to college in the area have been talking about how awesome ShamrockFest is!
shamrock fest suuure would be awesome!
I’d love to go, thanks!
New to the area! Not sure if DC can top Chicago’s Patty’s day shenanigans, but hope to find out!
My roommate said this was a thing to see — but on an entry-level budget and no beer included in the regular passes, it isn’t likely to happen! Feel free to assist (blah blah, new to the area –1 month– blah 21 on the dot blah blah). and in a final effort, here’s a cat drinking beer: http://critteristic.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/beer-cat.jpg
I have done my best.
I would love to go…I love beer and it’s my birthday weekend. And did I mention I love beer?
Hook me up please!!! I’ll love you forever.
Oh man, I went last year and had such a blast!
I visited Ireland last summer, where I drove on the left-hand side of the road, kissed the blarney stone, and visited the Guinness Factory. I am looking forward to showing off my Irish lingo, dance steps, and hops knowledge.
Please enter me in the drawing!
Hope it doesn’t rain this year.
First St. Patty’s Day in DC and would love to experience ShamrockFest- Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers is my favorite band! Hoping that DC proves to provide just as good of an Irish celebration as NYC :)
Weloveshamrockfest almost as much as welovedc!
I never been to ShamrockFest in DC but would love to attend! Sounds like it’s going to be fun-filled celebration of St. Patty’s day!!! :)
Never been to Shamrock Fest before. As an Irish girl, I should definitely make an appearance. Yay for spring!
Hope it’s not too cold!
Nah, I don’t think this sounds like that much fun.
Woo Shamrock Fest!
I happen to love beer! And shamrocks!
Drink responsibly and don’t go ironing any four-leaf clovers (you don’t want to press your luck)
did you say free beer?
