Continuing Foggy Bottom Metro Escalator Outrage

This gets old really fast, but all three escalators at Foggy Bottom Metro Station are out once again, with only one available to act as both up and down stairs for a rush hour crowd this afternoon. GW Hatchet has details, and as usual, I was on hand to get video:

Don’t you think Metro, by no, would just think to put stairs in and say “fuck it” to the escalators? If you’re fucked in a wheelchair or crutches, that’s why there is an elevator (not for the lazy as may people assume). Everybody makes light of the Mitch Hedberg joke, but for fuck’s sake, two out… constantly… they just become stairs, open the other one up…. or concrete them in… it doesn’t make it any better or worse… I’m glad I abandoned Metro for the summer (and possibly the fall)… too expensive! (yes, it costs me $8 round trip, plus $4.75 for Metro parking at Glenmont for a grand total of $12.75 per day… I motorcycle in… ~$4 for gas, and $2 for all day parking… $6, half the price…). Metro would have to really, seriously start to get their proverbial “shit together” to get me back and riding regularly… good luck for you VA folks.

I don’t understand why this happens. Why don’t more people just walk to Farragut West (even if headed to Virginia)? It’s really not that far, and then we could leave the elevator for those who really need it.
