The Rise of the Mocktail

I’m not sure if ya’ll knew this or not, but WLDC author Jenn is so wise. Every trend that girl has predicted lately has come true, and she was certainly right on the uptick of the mocktail – the non-alcoholic cocktail. Because going to the bar and drinking soda is boring, and you certainly don’t have a fun glass to feel fabulous holding. Sometimes you just don’t want to drink liquor but you want something tasty and creative. Enter: Natalie Bovis-Nelsen

Kimpton’s Hotel Madera and Firefly Restaurant (right in the heart of Dupont) will be hosting a book-signing party with mixologist Natalie Bovis-Nelsen, author of “Preggatinis™: Mixology for the Mom-To-Be.” Bovis-Nelsen’s book of 75 original recipes for the mom-to-be was named one of the top ten cocktail books of 2008. During the party, guests can mingle with the author, enjoy light hors d’oeuvres from Firefly Restaurant and liquor-less libations designed by Bovis-Nelsen. While I am not pregnant and not planning on getting pregnant any time soon (hi, Mom!) this would still be a fun party for those of us who just love the mocktail.

Head over to Hotel Madara on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the event is free to the public, but space is limited and advance reservations are required. To make reservations, call (202) 466-1306 or e-mail rsvp_dc (at)
