Make a run up to Baltimore for this burger (then waddle back)

I think I’m going to have to make a road (or, more likely, commuter train tracks) trip up to Baltimore to give Mother’s “heart attack on a plate” a try. I’ve been intrigued by the idea of the battered and deep-fried burger since I saw one on the Food network show “Guy’s Big Bite.”

That eatery was Joe’s Gizzard City in Michigan though, and I prefer my heart disease to be locally created. Mother’s is just a hop, skip and a jump away though, and conveniently located near Johns Hopkins’ cardiac ward.

Well I used to say something in my profile about not quite being a “tinker, tailor, soldier, or spy” but Tom stole that for our about us page, so I guess I’ll have to find another way to express that I am a man of many interests.

Hmm, guess I just did.

My tastes run the gamut from sophomoric to Shakespeare and in my “professional” life I’ve sold things, served beer, written software, and carried heavy objects… sometimes at the same place. It’s that range of loves and activities that makes it so easy for me to love DC – we’ve got it all.

  1. You could also get your fried burger (sans cheese) a bit closer to home at Eamonn’s. They have the Batter Burgher. And to help you get closer to the hear attack, there’s “‘The Chip Butty,’ golden fried chips stacked between a bun smothered with Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter. Yes! A french-fry sandwich, but Irish style.”

Now I want chips and a Guinness.

  2. deep-fried batter burger? That’s just a good ol’late nite oirish chipper van “BATTER” burger that no one dare touch after a night of pint-drinking (except for some brave souls), spruced up to look way fancier than a batter burger should ever look. :)
