The Washington Teachers Union is asking the DC Superior Court for a stay in the layoffs, which would take effect on Monday, booting nearly 300 teachers from the DCPS payroll. It’s not clear how likely the WTU’s petition would be, but this would hold the firings for two weeks while the courts review the processes used and the contract between DCPS and WTU.
