Next weekend, May 22-23, is WalkingTown and BikingTown DC, a great opportunity to get out there and explore the District. There are over 100 free walking and biking tours offered throughout the weekend, from a 1-mile walking tour through the Adams Morgan Heritage Trail to a 25-mile bike tour along the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.

Many of us take for granted the amazing attractions in the District that draw tourists from across the country, so this is a great chance to finally explore the wonderful city we live in. Explore a neighborhood you’ve never visited, or head down to see how the Anacostia is cleaning up, or rediscover the history of your own neighborhood. Check out the PDF brochure and schedule now to find a tour you’d like to attend!

Shannon grew up in the greater DC area/Maryland suburbs, went to Virginia for college and grad school (go Hoos!), and settled in DC in 2006. She’s an urban planner who loves transit (why yes, that is her dressed as a Metro pylon for Halloween), cities, and all things DC. Email her at Shannon (at) WeLoveDC.com!
