Has the looming government shutdown got you worried about the size of your bank account? Perhaps saving cute, fuzzy animals and the environment is right up your alley? Or maybe even both? Well, Jackson 20’s new Eco-Hour and late night food specials should pique your interest
Started by Executive Chef Dennis Marron last year in honor of Earth Day, Eco Hour at Jackson 20 features a selection of beers in aluminum cans, which are more eco-friendly than bottles since they are more easily recyclable and more easily transported, saving fuel and reducing pollution. Additionally, cans also keep beer tasting better as they dont let in light the way bottles do.
From 3-7pm every weekday, and 10:30pm-close on Thursdays, you can get canned craft beers, including Back in Black IPA, Porkslap Ale, and the outstanding Ten Fidy Imperial Stout (rated 100 by Ratebeer!), for $5 and “Working Man’s Beers,” including PBR and Yuengling, for $2 each.
If food is more your forte, the Eco-Hour also features $5 appetizers like a giant soft pretzel, BBQ sliders, or fried green tomatoes. From 10:30-11:30 on Thursdays, and 11pm-12:30am on Friday and Saturday, for $20.11 you can get a J20 burger (topped with smokehouse bacon, Mountaineer cheese, grilled green onions, barbecue aioli, apple cider cole slaw), fries, and 22 oz. draft beer; all-you-can-eat ribs’ or, for those who just want to keep drinking, a bucket of 6 craft beers.
Full belly, full wallet, and planet saved. Pretty solid day, if you ask me. For more information, check out Jackson 20’s menu.
