Burgers & More

In love with Shake Shack but can’t stand the long line? Maybe you will have better luck at Nationals Park, where the second Shake Shack opens next week along with Blue Smoke‘s barbecue, Box Frites (“Belgian-style fries and dipping sauces”) and El Verano Taqueria. Read more from EaterDC or check out Tom Sietsema’s review of the burgers here.

14th Street

Washington City Paper brings us some food news like always. We already knew that the Whisk Group abandoned its two tiered Italian food concept for the old Italian Shirt Laundry Space at 14th and Q Street NW. Now we’re told Starr Restaurant Group  from Philadelphia is close to signing a lease at that spot for its “super-French Parc concept.”

Lists, Lists, Lists

I really like lists, not sure why when they’re so subjective and I normally don’t agree with them. But there’s just something about a food list that makes me want to read it from the highest number to the lowest. So here are two for you. Eater DC’s has a list of 38 “essential Washington restaurants”  while  City  Paper compiled 44 Most Powerful Restaurants. Funny to see which restaurants are on one list and not the other.

An Even Better Read

Young & Hungry also pens the fun piece 2011 Midterm Review: Did Y&H Correctly Predict the Year’s Trends? What trend did they get right? That food trucks would buy brick & mortars (ie District Taco and Sauca). What did they get wrong? That hot dogs would be the new burgers.

  1. A charming French brasserie concept – which serves full, sit-down breakfast weekdays – at 14th & Q? That sounds way more rad to me than another Italian spot. Hope this one comes to fruition.

  2. Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is an extremely well written article. I’ll make sure to bookmark it and come back to read more of your useful info. Thanks for the post. I will certainly comeback.

  3. Basically suggestions! I seriously take pleasure in functioning outside during my yard. I actually do use a small experimentation when it comes to discovering the right instrument for the position. My partner and i often have for everyone to some of different merchants prior to We turn out seeking the one particular I’d like.
