Jack Rose Offers a Taste of Thanksgiving – One Week Early

Not everybody has room in their apartment for a full-scale Friendsgiving and it can be hard to coordinate with lots of people leaving town to visit family elsewhere. Adams Morgan “dining saloon” Jack Rose offers a solution this Thursday with something they are calling “The Mutha Firkin Turkey Roast of 2011.”

This reasonably-priced rooftop feast includes turkey – brined and glazed with Wild Turkey, of course – pecan-cranberry dressing and (my personal fave) brussels sprouts for $18 per person. Additional classic sides like sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie can all be added on.

That explains the “turkey roast” in the name – the “Mutha Firkin” comes in with with a special firkin of Flying Dog beer, one of several drink specials which should keep the evening lively. Others include Allagash Curieux (one of my all-time favorite beers – see what they are doing here?), Famous Grouse whisky, and a boozy hot cider.

In other words, get a few friends together and head over. It will be just like if you hosted Thanksgiving – if your place had a giant heated rooftop, chef on duty, and the best whiskey cellar in town.
