We at We Love DC are no stranger to ticket giveaways! But today we have a very unique opportunity with a pair of general admission tickets to a respected music festival that takes place not too far away from our fair city.

We are giving away a pair of tickets to Moogfest in Asheville, NC, on Wednesday, April 23 through Sunday, April 27.

Moogfest 2014 celebrates the synthesizer, and the slate of headliners scheduled to appear this year cross genres and boundaries as groundbreaking artists. The five-day festival features three performances by German pioneers Kraftwerk as well as a dance party featuring disco legend Nile Rodgers and his band CHIC.

You may recall Rodgers recently collaborated with Daft Punk on their Grammy-winning album, Random Access Memories, as did Giorgio Moroder, who will be on hand as a DJ and a guest lecturer. Performance artist Laurie Anderson will present her solo show, “The Language of the Future.”

In addition to these strong headliners and dozens upon dozens of other bands, Moogfest only yesterday announced the addition of the Pet Shop Boys, M.I.A., Flying Lotus and Dillon Francis to the lineup!

Asheville, where synth inventor Bob Moog spent the last 30 years of his life, has been home to Moogfest since 2010. The pleasantly idyllic metropolis hosts Moogfest across a number of venues, including The Orange Peel, one of the most famous concert venues in the country. If you’re up for a road trip, Asheville is an easy seven-hour drive from DC.

For your chance to win these tickets, simply leave a comment on this post using a valid email address between 9am and 5pm today. Feel free to leave any comment, but perhaps tell us what Moogfest artist you would most like to see! One entry per email address, please. Tickets for this show are also available through Ticketmaster.

For the rules of this giveaway…

Comments will be closed at 5pm and a winner will be randomly selected. The winner will be notified by email. The winner must respond to our email within 24 hours or they will forfeit their tickets and we will pick another winner.

The tickets must be claimed with a valid ID. The winner must be old enough to attend the specific concert or must have a parent’s permission to enter if he/she is under 18 years old.

  1. I would my give up everything to see FLYING LOTUS!!!! Such a pioneer of electronic music!!

  2. oh man, where to begin? Kraftwerk, RJD2 plus getting introduced to stuff I’ve never listened to before

  3. Man fucking, Brett Brando stole my tix for this year. I really want to go, fucking CHIC!!!!

  4. Daedelus. he has been one of the biggest inspirations in how I approach making music. he is the reason I am saving up any money I can to purchase a monome. it’s a bummer that his equipment was stolen on New Years. I would love to see how he adapts with new equipment. this would also be an amazing opportunity to expand my horizons as far as instruments to suit my likings. hopefully I get to try out as many synths as possible! Daedelus rules!

  5. Where to even begin? Moderat, Lapalux, Shigeto, FlyLo, Machinedrum, Kraftwerk.. and on and on and on and on. Would definitely love to experience Moog during the springtime in Asheville.

  6. Would love to see Moogfest! Looking forward to Laurie Anderson, a fellow Barnard College alumna.

  7. 43 years ago, my dad bought a copy of Switched-on Bach by Walter (now Wendy Carlos), and I wore it out. I have worshipped Kraftwerk since Autobahn days in the very early ’70s, and once went to see them 8 months pregnant (me, not them). I’m a mom of four who just turned 50. I’ve talked all their lives about how incredibly, influentially awesome they are. For me, the opportunity to attend Moogfest and see Kraftwerk live in the context of an entire festival devoted to music, technology, and art (including another one of my heroes, Laurie Anderson) is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for me. It would be especially momentous since I have crossed into my second century and such a grouping may not come again in my lifetime. Thank you, We Love DC, for sponsoring this contest. Go Moogfest!

  8. Jimmy Edgar!!! I’ve been wanting to see him for so long, but he’s never close enough. The entire lineup is so sick though.

  9. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see Kraftwerk or Giorgio? But throw in some M.I.A. and you’ve hit a nerve with me.

  10. Wave on, Mickey. I guess Kraftwerk will play a non-concurrent show but I bet there will be some tough choices.

  11. No doubt, kraftwerk for sure!!! I have had the fortune of seeing them live twice, and I would give my right testicle to see that show in 3d! Ok so probably not literally, but u get my drift. Seeing kraftwerk perform at a festival celebrating everything moog would be an absolute dream come true for me!

  12. Ooh so many, especially Kraftwerk & Moroder. I cannot imagine a better way to celebrate my big 4-0, birthday week!! Heaven on earth, that week for sure!!

  13. Giorgio Moroder!
I grew up listening to disco and absolutely fell in love with his music, especially his collaborations with Donna Summers. When I realized he worked on The NeverEnding Story soundtrack, I knew then that I was a fan for life. Getting to see him and Kraftwerk would be like getting to see the granddaddies of EDM to me, and that would be an absolute honour.

  14. I would love to see Kraftwerk since they were honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Grammy Academy!

  15. As a student of electrical engineering and computer science as well as a fan of electronic music, I was propelled into the discipline by my fascination with synthesizers. Moogfest has been on my radar for the last few years, and I would love to see Giorgio Moroder share his passion for the synthesizer with the festival!
