The Winning Ticket: Paint The Music at The Dunes 4/13/13

Today We Love DC is giving away a pair of tickets to Paint The Music, a live art series bringing together local musicians and area painters for a showcase where visual artists paint an entirely new piece —  on stage — inspired by the first song of a singer-songwriter’s set in real-time. Paint The Music will be at The Dunes this Saturday night April 13th and features music from event creator and singer-songwriter Dan Fisk as well as Nita Chawla and Zahra Universe with artwork by Sardar, Nadia Janjua, and Margret Kroyer.

For the rules of this giveaway…

Comments will be closed at 6pm and a winner will be randomly selected. The winner will be notified by email. The winner must respond to our email within 24 hours or they will forfeit their tickets and we will pick another winner.

Tickets will be available to the winner at The Dunes on the day of the event. The tickets must be claimed with a valid ID.

The Winning Ticket: Paint The Music at The Atlas Performing Arts Center 11/17/12

We Love DC is giving away a pair of tickets today to see Zia Hassan, Taylor Carson, and Dan Fisk as part of the Paint The Music event at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in NE this Saturday night.

“Paint The Music” brings together local musicians and area painters for a showcase whereby the visual artist paints an entirely new work of art on stage with the singer-songwriter, using inspiration from the first song of the musician’s live set. The viewers’ energy becomes part of the art as audience members are encouraged to interact with the musicians and artists, becoming the third arm of a creative triad. The paintings can be purchased at the end of the night via a silent auction.

We Love Music: Paint The Music

Bringing two different art forms together for one performance is Dan Fisk’s goal with his new Paint The Music performance series. The concept is simple: four painters are matched with a performance artist and each painter has the duration of a full night’s worth of music to complete the visual interpretation of the performer’s first song.

The idea came to local singer-songwriter and program organizer Fisk who was inspired by a story he heard from a DJ friend in San Diego. “I remember her telling me about a show that she did years ago where an artist was painting whatever he felt like during the show,” Fisk said. “He let the music inspire his art. I thought it was a great idea!”

It has always been something Fisk wanted to bring to DC but – according to him – it had to wait until he had enough time to give the project the attention it deserved. Continue reading →
