SILVERDOCS, the documentary film festival in Silver Spring, MD, ended last weekend with lines around the block for The Nine Lives of Marion Barry. Even though that one had special local appeal, it wasn’t one of the award winners at this year’s festival. A couple of highlights of the winning films are Riseup, a film about the underground reggae scene, which got the Music Documentary award, and The Cove, about Flipper and the creator’s campaign to free captive dolphins, which won the Audience Award. Check out the full list of winners here.
