Slate‘s Human Guinea Pig column tackled what it’s like to be on the grounds crew of a baseball stadium recently. Writer Emily Yoffe got to spend a day with the grounds crew at Nationals Park combing the dirt, scrubbing the bases, mowing stripes into the lawn, and- bonus!- rolling the tarp on and off the field during a rain storm.
