DC Crafts: Find Of The Day

political donkey and elephant

With political races gearing up for the November mid-term elections, why not have today’s Find Of The Day make a nod to the Dems and Repubs. These two 9.5″ tall Royal Haegar planters are in excellent shape, and according to flabbyrabbit, have no chips. Neither the donkey nor the elephant are rocking the  red, white and blue, but are both a matching shade of cream with greenish brown accents. Don’t know how the party leaders feel about that, but I have a feeling the word “unpatriotic” would come to mind.

Get pumped DC!!! The US Men’s Soccer Team takes on Algeria tomorrow morning needs our good karma and mojo. For the Wednesday 10am game bring your camera to the pub, snap some pictures and capture some memories, of what will hopefully (please God!) be a epic win, in this awesomely cute and patriotic Red, White and Blue America Scrapbook page.  The creative, hard-stock based page can be used in either scrapbooks, photo albums or as a background to a photo frame.  Perhaps throw in a cutout soccer ball and you’re all set.

Vintage Washington DC Tall Drinking Glasses Circa 1950 Set of 2

Today’s Find Of The Day celebrates many of our city’s finest monuments and buildings, and one of my summer favorites, iced cold beverages. These vintage drinking glasses feature black and gold images of The White House, The Capital Building, Iwo Jima Memorial, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Lincoln Memorial arranged around the seal of the POTUS.  The unique and quite handsome set were made around 1950.

On a Monday afternoon, all I can do is imagine both glasses filled with either some Jack Daniels and Ginger Ale, or perhaps a Gin Rickey. Heaven.

The general consensus of my friends and coworkers is that this week has been a long, hot, and sleep deprived week. And today’s US v. Slovenia result did nothing to help liven the mood. Perhaps, although it’s only June, we’ve already entered the dog days of summer?

In an effort to prevent some reverse-seasonal effect disorder, I’m pulling out a secret lucky duck mood ring made by Washington DC master architect celula. It’s cute, bright, happy and perhaps might bring you and the US Men’s team some luck.

Local Michaels’ stores will be hosting FREE crafts event this Saturday, September 19, inspired by the American Girl series.  Participants will create three American Girl® projects that are focused on various periods of American history from the viewpoint of pre-teen girl characters.  It would also be a great time to check out the Halloween supplies they have for costumes.
